Route 66 West Day 2

The weather was much better today. Skies were overcast and we only had a few sprinkles, so three of us got to see a lot more of Route 66. One of the highlights for me was recognizing the crossroads Hotel, which was used in the show Breaking Bad.

Noton the Route, we rode to Acoma Pueblo, a town built on top of the mesa. Gorgeous. Visitors to the top are strictly controlled, so we didn't go up, but it was a nice drive south of I-40. More of I-40 in New Mexico is built on top of Route 66, so unless you're a Route purist, sticking to the interstate is the fastest way to do the Route and still make time.

Another highlight was the drive-through sign in Geants. Nice!!

We're having dinner at El Rancho Hotel, a long-time resident of Gallup and location for at least a dozen films with Ronald Reagan, Marlene Deitrick, Humphrey Bogart, and the likes. What an amazing place!!

Not sure what tomorrow will bring, but looking forward to it!!
