Day 50 - lone pine

One word to describe the day: goodbyes

This morning Mel and I woke up at 5 to get on the trail early. We wanted to hit the snow while it was still firm but the joke was on us! There really wasn't much snow at all! I was expecting 13 miles of straight snow but it was quite patchy. We only had longer stretches of snow on northern slopes. So it was a fairly easy 14 miles to the cottonwood trailhead. We did have a decent river crossing but we were able to find a safe place to cross.

When we got to the trailhead, we got a ride to town from Don! A man we met at some trail magic in the desert who lives in lone pine. He dropped us off downtown. Mel, Tarzan, Ian, bailey, Caroline and I ate at the mt Whitney restaurant. They decided to resupply and head back to the trailhead tonight so we said our goodbyes!! It feels weird to be hiking without Caroline. We have been hiking since day one together. But here's to new beginnings, it will be great to meet new folks too.Lue lisää
