Duwisib Castle

After unpacking we walked to the castle and had a look around. The castle was built in 1909 by an ex German soldier and they also brought 6000 hectares of land to start farming.

The Stone Horse Hike

After visiting Kolmanskop and luderitz we drove the 130km back to camp and then went on a 6km hike to see the stone horse from 600 meters up in the desert.

We are heading to the next town 100 miles away and halfway there we found an abandoned train station and a building that looked like an old windmill.

Giraffes in the road

We left camp at just gone 8am and 30km into our drive we spotted a huge heard of giraffe crossing the road. This is the most bizarre sight in the desert and they looked content and full thanks to theWeiterlesen

Fish River Canyon

We stopped halfway along the canyon and got the drone out as nobody was around and got a shot of the canyon and the car before moving on.

The drive to Fish river canyon didn’t take too long. This is the 3rd largest canyon in the world and the views were spectacular. From here we took a 5km hike to the next viewpoint before returningWeiterlesen
The Richterveld Transfrontier Park

This morning we were up early and took a drive to fish river canyon. This is situated in the richtersveld National park and we had to pay an entry fee of £27.

After another 90 minutes of driving the road ran out and we hit the gravel and aired the tyres down. We still haven’t seen another car. This country is just vast and full of nothing.

After a great nights sleep if nearly 9 hours we were woken up by the cockerels and ducks. Once we emerged from the tent we were greeted by the fallow deer, alpacas and then a very lovely cat.
