A long drive awaits us before we reach Jerusalem and we will get to see some glimpses of Palestine, as we will cross the West Bank from North to South. As the guide explains, we are going through a corridor in territory C.
With the Oslo agreement, the West Bank was divided into thee types of territories: A, B and C.
- A: Palestinian
- B: Mixed
- C: Israeli
At 4pm we stop at a Bazar in the middle of nowhere, where we are offered anything ranging from freshly pressed juices to dates to leather accessories. And, of course, the inevitable dromedary is there too to attract curious tourists.
While I have some squeezed carrot juice and Ludo tries the local dates, we spot something really peculiar: pomegranate wine! I wonder what it will taste like...
After the bazaar stop, we keep driving in the deser, with no sign of vegetation nor of real houses: all we see are desert hills and some rudimental huts made with makeshift means.
All of a sudden, however, the desert gives way to a metropolis, literally built in the middle of nowhere: we are in Jerusalem!Read more
