Kann mir jemand sagen, warum Chicago und nicht Marseille den Spitznamen "the windy city" trägt? Während meines ganzen Aufenthalts wurde ich gefühlt fast weggepustet. Insbesondere bei der Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde ist der Mistral sehr stark. Glücklicherweise kann man dort im Windschatten von hunderten anderen Touristen stehen, die gleichzeitig durch die Kirche geschleust werden, das hilft. Aber auch sonst ist die Stadt ganz interessant - bei meiner Ankunft wird gerade jemand verhaftet. Man könnte meinen, ich sei nur hierhergekommen, um mir die Klischees über die Stadt bestätigen zu lassen.
Generell lässt sich die Stadt als etwas heruntergekommen beschreiben, sie hat jedoch tolle Sehenswürdigkeiten, von denen ich noch nicht alle gesehen habe - ich werde also wohl trotzdem nochmals hierher kommen.

Can anyone tell me why Chicago and not Marseille is nicknamed "the windy city"? I almost felt blown away during my entire stay. The mistral is particularly strong at the Basilique Notre-Dame de la Garde. Fortunately, you can stand there in the lee of hundreds of other tourists who are being channelled through the church at the same time, which helps. But the city is also quite interesting in other respects - someone is being arrested when I arrive. You'd think I'd just come here to have the clichés about the city confirmed.
In general, the city can be described as a bit run-down, but it has some great sights, not all of which I've seen yet - so I'll probably still come here again.Read more
