Batumi: Mediterranean Vibes

Nach erfolgreichem, wenn auch etwas kompliziertem Grenzübertritt nach Georgien lassen wir den Abend an der Promenade von Batumi ausklingen. Palmen, das Meer und die entspannte Atmosphäre verleihen der Stadt fast schon mediterrane Vibes. Die erste Nacht im Hostel sorgt bei Andi zwar noch für einen kleinen Kulturschock, der erste Eindruck von Georgien könnte aber kaum besser sein.
Am nächsten Morgen erkunden wir Batumi etwas genauer. Andi ist so begeistert, dass er kurzerhand den Plan fasst, hierher auszuwandern. Raphael nutzt die Gelegenheit und schleppt den frischgebackenen Georgien-Fan erst zur Festung Gonio und gleich danach auch noch zur Festung Petra. Die Auswanderungspläne werden daraufhin vorsichtshalber noch einmal überdacht.

After successfully, albeit somewhat complicatedly, crossing the border into Georgia, we round off the evening on the Batumi promenade. Palm trees, the sea and the relaxed atmosphere give the city an almost Mediterranean feel. Although the first night in the hostel comes as a bit of a culture shock for Andi, our first impression of Georgia could hardly be better.
The next morning, we explore Batumi in a bit more detail. Andi is so enthusiastic that he spontaneously decides to emigrate here. Raphael seizes the opportunity and drags the newly minted Georgia fan first to Gonio Fortress and then straight on to Petra Fortress.
