Georgia's Least Wanted

Heute machen wir uns auf den langen Weg von den Bergen zurück ins Flachland. Kaum gibt es wieder ähnlich viele Menschen wie Kühe, werden wir auch schon zum ersten Mal seit dem Verlust unseres Nummernschilds von der Polizei kontrolliert. Offenbar wirken wir etwas suspekt. Die Kontrolle verläuft allerdings freundlich und nach wenigen Minuten dürfen wir weiterfahren.
Auf dem Programm stehen heute die Festung Nokalakevi und die Prometheus-Höhle. Auf den ersten Blick könnten die beiden Orte kaum unterschiedlicher sein. Auf den zweiten haben sie überraschend viel gemeinsam: jede Menge Steine und ungefähr die Informationstiefe einer Wikipedia-Einleitung. Schade - zu beiden Orten gäbe es bestimmt deutlich mehr spannende Geschichten zu erzählen.
Am Abend geht es noch ein Stück weiter Richtung Osten. Tiflis, unser Etappenziel, rückt langsam, aber sicher näher.

Today we’re setting off on the long journey from the mountains back to the lowlands. No sooner are there as many people as there are cows again than we’re stopped by the police for the first time since losing our number plate. Apparently, we look a bit suspicious. The stop is, however, friendly and after a few minutes we're allowed to carry on.
On the agenda today are Nokalakevi Fortress and Prometheus Cave. At first glance, the two places could hardly be more different. On closer inspection, however, they have a surprising amount in common: plenty of rocks and about as much depth of information as a Wikipedia introduction. It’s a shame - there are surely far more fascinating stories to tell about both places.
In the evening, we head a little further east. Tbilisi, our first major destination, is slowly but surely drawing nearer.Read more
