Prince Edward Island. September 8-18, 2018

    Saturday, September 8
Cornwall, Ontario to Edmundston, New Brunswick on Saturday.
    Site 7 at a municipal campground. . . Republique
    Very cold night!

    Sunday, September 9
Crossed the bridge around 3:30 pm
Made the traditional stop at Borden-Carleton Welcome Center for Cows Ice Cream and a bit of shopping
Arrived at Rodd Resort at Brudenelle River Provincial Park around 6:00
Pleasantly surprised with the campground and the general area. Sites are $28 per night, level. Washrooms are good. Laundromat.
Lots of walking paths around the resort and close to Confederation Trail.
Made dinner and explored the area.

    Monday, September 10
Visited the pro shop at the Brudenelle River Resort, booked a tee time for 5:00
    Bike ride on Confederation Trail
Lunch, explored Brudenelle Island. A family built a church on the island during the 1850’s. They are buried there, and their descendants recently built a monument in their honour.
4:30. Played at Dundarave Golf Course, one of the 2 18 holes here.
Very cold! Interesting course, lots of rolling hills, beautiful views, red sand traps , enjoyed the gardens and landscaping, tricky greens. $45 per person after 5:00, all the holes you can fit in before dark!

    Tuesday, September 11
Went for a walk, bike ride in the morning
Rain forecast for the afternoon, so went to Souris for lunch. Tony had clam chowder and I had a hot dog and sweet potato fries!

    Thursday, September 13
Bike ride from Cavendish Beach towards North Rustico. Made it about 3/4of the way, so about 7 kms each way. Beautiful scenery.
On the way back, saw 3 ladies in a Rialta exactly like ours. Stopped for a chat
Lunch, then went to hit balls at Stanhope Golf Club. Drove to North Rustico to Doiron’s Fish Market for some scallops and shrimp for dinner.
Sunset on the beach. So pretty.
Went to the office to use the Wifi and saw the Ladies in the Rialta parked on the road in front of the firewood shed. Their Rialta would not start and a guy named Reg was trying to jump start it. Wouldn’t work. So they decided to camp for the night in the parking lot. We pushed the Rialta off the road and into a parking spot and the ladies started to set up camp. Then, a guy on a motorized unicycle (!?!?) rolled in, hit the starter with the blunt end of an axe, and it started! So, the ladies returned to their campsite. Later, Tony and went over to give them a spare part in case the garage didn’t have it in stock. During our conversation, we realized it was Diane, Bonnie, and Lynne Toelstrop, friends and classmates from Beebe Elementary School! What a surprise!

    Friday, September 14
Changed campgrounds today. Staying at New Glasgow Highlands Campground for our last 3 days. Site 30. Next time, we would like site 27
Things are pretty much the same here, even though Les and Marlene have semi-retired.
Had lunch, then went to Clyde River Golf Course for 9holes. $25 per person with a cart. You get what you pay for! Enough said! (Although the first 4 holes were pretty with views of the Clyde River)
After golf, went for dinner at PEI Preserve. Tasty garlicky scallops for me and salmon for Tony.

    September 16, 2018 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

    Sunday, September 16
Rain forecast for this morning, so went for a drive to Mount Stewart. We wanted to try Linda’s Country Kitchen, butt didn’t like the looks of it so went to Sobeys and bought food for sandwiches.
Found the cutest little Pumpkin patch just outside of Charlotteville.
Drove to Brackely Beach and biked from there to Robinson’s Island. Biked back. About 17 kms. Loved the trail on Robinson’s Island.
Went for dinner at Dalvay on the Sea. Tony had the fall flavours menu. Everything on this menu was grown and produced on the Island. He had as an appetizer warm brussel sprout salad with prosciutto, sourdough croutons and Parmesan cheese, Beef Brisket with Japanese turnips, heritage carrots and potato/sweet potato pie, and deconstructed pumpkin pie. I had beef tenderloin with mashed potatoes, beets, carrots, yellow beans, and rutabaga. A thick, rich brown peppery sauce was drizzled overtop. Everything was delicious!
FaceTimed with Adalynn and Matt and Val later. Adalynn’s exciting news is that she is using the potty now! :-)
Early to bed, big drive tomorrow!
