I. AFR/BW - 13. Tag, Ghanzi

Heute ging es von Namibia nach Botswana, mein mittlerweile 45. Land ;)
Die Fahrt von Windhoek bis an die Grenze war mit knapp 5-6h schon relativ lange, sodass wir mit den Grenzformalitäten und weiteren 2-3h Fahrt auch einen sehr langen Tag hatten (550 km) - allerdings sind hier die Straßen geteert, wesentlich besser, es ist viel grüner und nach dem Abendessen in Ghanzi gab es einen traditionellen Stammestanz der örtlichen San-Bevölkerung :)
Die Nacht war auch mehr als interessant: erst gab es einen leichten Regenschauer, bevor richtig starker Wind aufkam und unser Zelt fast davonblasen und mit Sand füllen ließ - am nächsten Morgen war alles voller Sand :P
Ghanzi selbst ist das Zentrum der Rinderzucht, des drittgrößten Industriezweigs Botswanas.

Today we made our way from Namibia to Botswana, my 45th country now ;)
The route from Windhoek to the border was already quite long with 5-6h so that we had a very long day (550 km) especially also considering the border formalities and another 2-3hrs drive - however, the roads here are normal, way better, it is a lot greener and after dinner in Ghanzi we could enjoy a traditional tribal dancing from the local San community :)
The night was also more than interesting: we first had some light rain followed by strong winds which almost made our tent fly away and then filled it up with sand - the next morning everything was covered in sand :P
Ghanzi itself is the centre of cattle farming, with beef being Botswana's third largest industry.Read more
