      Ausflug nach El Campello

      January 23 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

Read more

      The fam made it!

      September 13, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Beautiful sunrise this morning over the sea and feeling a little better than yesterday as the fam will be on their way again today.
Did some yoga on the grass facing the sea and the sunrise - then the garden sprinklers started so I had to run indoors! Will remember that tomorrow.
Went to the town’s market just a 25 minute walk away. A good variety of usual stuff - clothes, toys, kitchen stuff then the indoor section had loads of fresh fruit/veg/flowers/herbs etc. took a wander around the town and a bit of shopping plus looking for parks for Lucas to play in when they get here.
Gary had a little bit of work to do so I tried out the pool. Very nice. Tile floor so slippy though so need to tell the guys to be careful with wet feet. We then walked down to the nice beach, just an 8 minute walk, and swam/hung out there for a while. Nice clear, calm waters, yellow sandy beach, slide climbing frame for kids and lots of shops and bars along the front.
We were just trying to kill time really knowing that the guys were on their way at that point.
The new kettle was delivered (that had tripped the fuse the day before). Fir a house that holds 8 people, he’d ordered a mini kettle that is probably the same capacity as my van kettle! Men, eh? ;0)
After a bit more time-killing, we finally picked everyone up from the airport, what with the delays and everything, didn’t get back here until nearly 11pm our time. Lucas finally settled to sleep and we sat out chatting. Shame it was dark so they couldn’t see too much but the sea is so close you can hear it beautifully from the house. All went to bed just after midnight, very relieved!

El Campello apartment - Day 5

      September 16, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Alex and I decided we needed a morning of shopping/browsing down the beach front sans child. There’s quite a few clothing/gift shops all selling similar stuff along with the cafes, restaurants and bars. The beach was quite busy as it’s the weekend though the water quite ‚dirty‘ from the storm the night before, the heavy rain water had made channels down the sand to the sea which then got churned up by the morning beach tractors and dragged out by the sea. I’m sure it’ll all settle soon.
We had a wander then stopped for a crepe and a drink. Practiced my best Spanish as the guy behind the counter didn’t speak much English. We got there though. Nice easy morning.
On the way back we stopped at the pool to see if we could find Lucas‘s lost hat. It was there. Of course, after we’d hunted high and low then bought him a new one!
Matt took the tram in to Alicante for the afternoon for something to do. The rest of us went to the pool at the apartment. It was cloudy for the afternoon so didn’t stay for too long there as it’s cold water in the pool.
Alex and Sean went out for dinner in the evening and we were on babysitting duty.
Very quiet day in all. Sadly, apart from the pool and the beach, there’s not much to do around here so we spent the evening thinking about where we could that’s a bit more further afield. Made a plan to go bowling tomorrow.

      Quiet day at the apartment

      September 18, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Went for a run to Lidl as they opened early (we needed milk). It was closed. Turns out I’d ran to Aldi. Ran further on to Aldi. Closed too! Sign saying not open for another 15 mins or so. What exciting adventures I lead in my life…
Anyway, Gary and I took Lucas to the nice park we found in town plus couple of bits we needed whilst we were there. Bit of food shopping later then hit the pool for the last time before everyone leaves tomorrow. Headed out for dinner at the regular place we’ve all been going, they do killer garlic prawns. Slow waddle back with mumma duck et al and played Uno again for the night. Gary still feeling a little under the weather, thinks maybe the air con? Once we hit the road again tomorrow hopefully it’ll clear.

      Campello

      April 19, 2018 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Well that was an interesting trip fairly bumpy at the beginning so we decided against a straight to Ibiza sail, it got better near Santa Pola which was where we decided the revised destination would be so we headed on obviously the conditions then worsened as we headed towards Alicante and were then horrible for the last 4miles to Campello it was gusting up to 27knots but the sea bands did their job so I kept the Jaffa cakes down. 😉 To the west of the marina are lots of high rise but to the east it is a bit less built up, right next to the marina is a small isthmus Islotte de Banyets with ruins of a Roman settlement on top and fish baths on the waters edge see photo 1, 2 is looking East from isthmus, then photos of what look like miniature irises, blooms only inch and a half across also photo of the seaweed growing on the rocky shore as the colours changed the closer to the water they were. Maybe Morayra tomorrow as there is an anchorage there that should work in this wind direction it’s now E, through to North and this Marina costs 40 Euro a night so need anchorages.Read more
