Fantastic Spanish fruit

Popped into this little spanish grocery and broke about 3 rules immediately there was a guy hanging around outside the door with one young guy in the shop, calling out a list of fruit while the female assistant scurried around collecting for him including getting on a step ladder to catch a pineapple that was on a shelf 2.5m high. So I was thinking he was a lazy chauvinistic pig while I collected a few bits of fruit and then the assistant said something to me and I noticed gloves, mask, guy outside now with 3 other people lined up being in the street. Covid still a big deal.

Well the apricots and the plums were worth the wait (amazing) the apple was inedible. Figs OMG.Read more

Staying in a 3 bed apartment in the centre of the old town. With a washing machine so we’ve washed pretty much everything we own. We got up late then visited the incredibly ornate cathedral and walked around the city walls. It poured with rain so we stopped for a drink and were offered tapas. Feeling brave so ordered pigs ears. Probably won’t do that again!!This evening we met up again with April and her new friend Dutch Peter for dinner and an enormous bottle of wine.Read more

Only 100km to go! We have reached Lugo and are feeling tired despite it being a fairly easy day (17km) looking forward to a rest day tomorrow in a rather swanky apartment with a washing machine!

Fuimos al Área de autocaravanas pero estaba siendo utilizada para la fiesta Romana que se celebra en la ciudad así que aparcamos en una calle cercana al centro, aunque dimos muchas vueltas hasta conseguir un sitio.

El Arde Lucus (también escrito como Arde Lvcvs) es una fiesta celebrada en Lugo a mediados del mes de junio que revive el pasado romano y castreño de la ciudad amurallada, y que surgió para conmemorar la fundación de la ciudad. Desde 2017 declarada Fiesta de Interés Turístico Nacional.

Lugo es una ciudad y municipio de España, capital de la comarca y provincia homónimas, situada en el noroeste del país, en Galicia.

De origen romano, fue fundada en el año 25 a. C. por Paulo Fabio Máximo y es la más antigua de Galicia.

Construida en las cercanías de un castro, en la época romana recibió el nombre de Lucus Augusti. Numerosos restos romanos, muchos de ellos conservados en el Museo Provincial, son testimonio de sus primeros años de historia.
