    When Opportunity Knocks

    October 13, 2017 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 18 °C

Hillary, from Dublin, told a great story about snubbing the offer of breakfast at her albergue and then walking through numerous towns where one after another, the cafes were all shut down. We now have a similar story!

The upside is, we walked our entire way this morning without seeing another pilgrim and very few other human beings. Apparently, the 15th century had few women on the route, though I don't imagine Scott and I will be immortalized for our journey. One poet had left notes along the way to engage our interest, should we choose.... we chose!

    Misty Galician Morning

    October 13, 2017 in Spain ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

We walked for 4 hours this morning and never saw a single pilgrim on the Camino Ingles. It is much less travelled than the Camino Françes and notwithstanding its name there is very little English spoken on the Camino Ingles. However the solitude and woodland trails for the most part have been delightfully serene.

The Galcian mists can be spooky in the morning particularly when two cats decide to fight on a tree limb just over your head. I just about jumped out of my hikers!

    September 29, 2017 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Easy walk today. It sprinkled a lot this morning then started to rain just as we got to the albergue. Perfect timing! We passed the Cafe where the coffee machine was broken last time I was there and I got to show Dave the sculptures. I hope the pictures come out well since it was pretty foggy. We finally came across another person (German woman) who speaks English! Some pretty trails today with ferns answers mushrooms but mostly walking back-roads.Read more
