Sabbatical

Von Zweisimmen ging es nach einem super Frühstück bei Eva weiter Richtung Gstaad, dann über zwei Pässe Richtung Aigle. Von dort wollten wir dann Richtung Süden zum Grand St. Bernhard. Wieder super Wetter, was will man mehr?

Doch plötzlich nimmt Vicki kein Gas mehr an. Der Griff dreht leer durch bis er ansteht, nichts passiert. Ich bleibe am Straßenrand stehen, warte darauf dass Marcus merkt dass ich nicht nachkomme und zu mir zurück kommt.

Ein netter französischer Schweizer bleibt stehen und bietet seine Hilfe an, da er ums Eck wohnt. Nach Beratschlagung mit dem Einheimischen beschließen wir, dass ich Vicki bis Ollon zur nächsten Werkstatt bergab rollen lasse. Enormer Stress für mich, aber was soll ich sonst tun? Irgendwo am Berg stehen lassen ist keine Option und es ist immerhin nicht die Bremse kaputt 😓

Bei der Werkstatt ist man zwar sehr freundlich, aber leider können sie mir nicht helfen. Da wir in der französischen Schweiz sind, ist auch die Kommunikation recht schwierig. Ein Versuch die nächste Yamaha Werkstatt anzurufen endet darin, dass wir herausfinden dass die meisten Werkstätten am Montag zu haben bzw. keine Neukunden nehmen.

Schließlich rufe ich den ARBÖ an, der Abschleppdienst kommt etwa 2.5 Stunden später, spannt Vicki auf seinen Anhänger und erklärt uns dasselbe, die Werkstatt hat montags zu wie bei uns die Friseure, er kann Vicki erst morgen hinbringen.

Wir machten einen Treffpunkt für den nächsten Tag aus bevor er mich beim Campingplatz in Villeneuve absetzte und Vicki mit in seine Garage mitnahm.

After a great breakfast at Eva's, we continued from Zweisimmen in the direction of Gstaad, then over two passes in the direction of Aigle. From there we wanted to head south to the Grand St. Bernhard. Great weather again, what more could you ask for?

But suddenly Vicki doesn't take gas anymore. The handle spins empty until it stops, nothing happens. I stop at the side of the road, waiting for Marcus to notice that I'm not following and come back to me.

A nice French Swiss man stops and offers his help because he lives around the corner. After consultation with the local we decide that I will let Vicki taxi downhill to Ollon to the next workshop. Huge stress for me, but what else should I do? Leaving it somewhere on the mountain is not an option and at least the brakes are not broken 😓

The workshop is very friendly, but unfortunately they cannot help me. Since we are in French-speaking Switzerland, communication is also quite difficult. An attempt to call the nearest Yamaha workshop ends in us finding out that most workshops are closed on Monday or do not take new customers.

Finally I call the ARBÖ, the towing service comes about 2.5 hours later, stretches Vicki onto his trailer and explains again that the workshop is closed on Mondays like the hairdressers in Austria, he can only bring Vicki there tomorrow.

We arranged a meeting point for the next day before he dropped me off at the campsite in Villeneuve and took Vicki to his garage.
