    Alishan Forest Walk

    October 3, 2018 in Taiwan ⋅ ☀️ 25 °C

We were up and out with plenty of time to walk to the station to begin our journey to Alishan. Our host saw us and gave us some biscuits and then drove us! He's been fantastic!!

The journey to Alishan was pretty windy around the mountains, but luckily the driver stopped a couple of times so we were able to get some fresh air and clear our heads. Upon arrival it was cold and really foggy, so we had a chicken curry and rice from 7-11 with the rest of the local tourists.

As usual upon entering the park there were steps and boardwalks across the whole forest area. It was pleasant and the trees were so lovely but it was a shame to not be able to feel the natural leaves and soil under our feet. Once we got going the fog lifted and the sun was beaming down. It ended up being a really nice walk, very easy but a nice little wander.

After finishing the walk we caught the train to our final stop for the day, Tainan, the old capital city and now known as the City of Snacks. Here we booked the cheapest accomodation yet and its a nice hotel room, luxury. 😊

    Jungle backdrop

    October 10, 2017 in Taiwan ⋅ ⛅ 7 °C

Again the alarm sounds at 3am. We pack our stuff and hike a pitch black forest trail to watch this famous Alishan sunrise. Other visitors take the train. We are not alone on this summit at 4:45am.

We spend the afternoon driving on a randomly chosen countryside road which leads us deep into the jungle. This hot and humid environment goes well after cold days in the mountains. We find a waterfall and pitch up hammocks to relax for a while.

In the evening we reach Dapu, which turns out to be an obscur holiday place. A perfect spot for free camping.

    From dawn til dusk

    October 8, 2017 in Taiwan ⋅ ⛅ 15 °C

We get up in the dark to watch the sunrise at Sunmoon Lake. The view is gorgeous: This is Taiwan's beauty.

From Sunmoon Lake we take the monkey-framed mountain road to Alishan. Alishan is famous for its sunrises. However, the sunsets aren't to bad neither.

When I arrived in Chiayi one of my cousins drove us around and took us to eat and to visit a museum that was newly built. We had a tour of the countryside...
And I saw all my auncles and aunties that I have not seen for 15 years! I felt so welcomed.

    Alishan

    October 23, 2019 in Taiwan ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Alishan war eines der Ziele worauf wir uns besonders freuten. Es gab von Deutschland aus nur wenig Info ob und wie man den Alishan Mountain besichtigen kann. Dabei waren alles Sorgen unbegründet: Take the bus that's it. Naja nicht ganz um die schöne Aussicht genießen zu können hat man von der Bus Station noch einen 4km langen Anstieg vor sich.Read more

A sneak peak on the way to the country

    October 14, 2016 in Taiwan ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

On the way to Chiayi I captured some photos of the Taiwanese countryside. I was well impressed with my Samsung G6 as the train was going super fast and the photo quality was amazing!
