Went to a cooking class recommended by the hotel - pretty fab! They took us to a local market to buy some ingredients, then out to a farm in the countryside where they've got a huge bamboo barn. During covid they turned it into more of a restaurant for locals, but now back to cooking classes as well. Made and ate spring rolls, tom yum soup, pad Thai, Khao soi and mango sticky rice. All super tasty and couldn't finish them all!Read more

Für den Nachmittag haben wir einen der empfohlenen Kochkurse gebucht. Zuerst besuchten wir einen lokalen Markt und erfuhren etwas über die Zutaten, mit denen heute gekocht wird. Danach folgte eine kurze Fahrt mit dem Shuttle zu einer coolen Location außerhalb von Chiang Mai. Die folgenden Stunden lernten wir dann die Zubereitung 5 thailändischer Gerichte unser Wahl. Nice sleep in the hostel and up for a cookery class at 9am. Met Pearse in the hostel and found the bus transfer. We started out in a food market and then it was about 45 mins to the cookery school. It was a lovely traditional Thai building. We cooked spring rolls, spicy Thai soup, Penang curry, chicken cashew stir fry & sticky mango rice. It was all delicious! The best meal we've had in Thailand according to Aine. But our teacher Im made the class, she was hilarious singing and dancing the whole way through. We got back to the hostel for around 3 and rested. We took a stroll around the city and then got a drink with Pearse and one of his roommates in the bar. It's lovely to meet someone from home and not just talk about where you are travelling to. Went for a quick shower and out to the night market for dinner. Aine went to McDonald's. Timmy & Lorraine, Pearses friends joined aswell. We all decided to do the hostel pub crawl it was gas craic, lots of Karaoke. Lovely first day in Chiang Mai.Read more
