We are in the Dordogne today, staying in the Beau Village of Belvès.
We've had alot of heavy rain today and we wondered if we'd get to explore the town, then at about 4pm the rain stopped and the sun came out so we were immediately out making up for lost time (though its nice to just relax in the motorhome occasionally!).
This is another truly beautiful place, steeped in history and very well preserved. It's the sort of place you can imagine living in (I say that about alot of the places we visit 😉).

We started our day with a drive to Bergerac to replenish our food supplies then a stopover at Sourzac for lunch. We might have stayed at Sourzac but the parkup was on quite a slope and even the ramps weren't going to be enough to stop things rolling off the table!
So onwards to Saint Léon sur L'Isle where we are parked up next to the river L'Isle. We had a very nice riverside walk then a loop into the town. Niska hasn't been able to resist water on this holiday so she got very wet.....again!

    22–23 may. 2024, Francia ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

Today we've driven a short distance to the city of Périgueux where the Olympic torch relay is going through this evening.
Our aire is around a 10 minute walk from the beautiful cathedral and the area around Place Tourny where the torch will reach its final destination for the day.
There were hundreds of people out on the streets, lots of security and lots of entertainment. It was great to watch the procession and be a part of the celebrations. We had the chance to walk through some of the very historic streets near the cathedral aswell.
Niska had a kip in the motorhome while we were out (I wouldn't say keeping guard because she'd be a terrible guard dog....too easily bribed with a biscuit!).

Its quite tiny but every property, garden and public space is so immaculately kept and the heady scent of flowers is everywhere. • Hondschoote, Nord

    3–4 jun. 2024, Francia ⋅ ☁️ 18 °C

We driven our longest distance in France on this trip today. Heading north east to our stopover very close to the Belgian border. This area of France is largely agricultural and the main routes are quite industrial and not particularly inspiring. The latter part of the journey after a lunch stop was off the main route and much more interesting.
Hondschoote, where we are staying has a beautiful church and Mairie in the centre and we had a nice walk around. Our aire is by a sports stadium and an historic windmill. Just us here tonight, it's peaceful.
