• From the Lake to Vintgar Gorge.

    September 20 in Slovenia ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

Today’s adventure … visiting Vintgar Gorge, another highlight of the fabulous Triglav National Park.

Vintgar Gorge is about 3 kms from the centre of Bled and there are regular shuttle buses. But we chose the long way around, walking from our guesthouse, down to the lake, around to the other side where we left the lake and made our way up to the visitor centre at the gorge. About a two hour walk in all,

Timing was important. Entry is strictly controlled to manage numbers. Our entry time was 1-20pm. You have a QR code on your ticket and it won’t work before the allowed time. Time is displayed on the entry turnstile and indicates when you can scan your code, After entry you get your safety helmet and off you go. The walkway is about 1.5 kms long and walking is allowed in one direction only. It may sound like overkill, but it works. Although there is a steady stream of people all day, we didn’t feel crowded or rushed.

As for the Gorge and the changing colours of the clean clear water … magnifique. I was taking it all in, and taking photos was secondary, so I’m a little disappointed in what ended up in my phone ☺️. We finished the walk after about 35 minutes, returned our helmets and then opted for a delightful forest walk up and then a stroll down through various villages before returning to Bled Mlino,

Another wonderful day in Slovenia’s natural wonderland 😊
