      Ankunft in London

      September 24, 2022 in England ⋅ ⛅ 12 °C

Euch allen eine längst überfällige, gute Nacht! 😴

Rail Mail at the Postal Museum

      March 24 in England ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Read more

      It's London baby!

      July 4 in England ⋅ ☀️ 16 °C

      - 2.5 hours drive Harpford to Chawton House in Hampshire (Jane Austen sort of lived there). Slightly disappointing experience as I probably could have got there earlier than planned, and it was more about the Knight family than Jane. Still - always good to learn something.
      - 1 hour figuring out EV charging Basingstoke, just for old time's sake. Non-functional chargers and too many roundabouts, just for old time's sake.
      - 1.25 hour drive to Oxford to say goodbye to MorGan. No problems thank goodness.
      - 2.5 hours train and tube to get to my cousin's house in North London. Wonderful time hanging out with J, R & C, reading books and talking life. Slept in a gorgeous loft room looking over a green park. Goodbyes the next morning with the requested family photo (sent privately to Mum and Dad).
      - 1 hour tube to Russell Square station, dropped my bag at Mecklenburg Square, coffee while I waited for the Charles Dickens museum to open.
      "Did" CDM in an hour.
      - Turns out I'm in Bloomsbury! Sort of. Maybe it will rub off.
      - Met up with travel buddy #1 (P) at her digs on the other side of the square. Hours chatting catching up on all the adventures.
      - P and I were attracted to an exhibition called the library of lost books. It sounded like a Pip Williams thing, but no. It was at the Weiner Holocaust Museum, and was a fascinating exhibition on trying to reconstitute a library of Jewish Studies that was dispersed from Berlin after 1942. (Evoked ideas of missing record sets in SA under different circumstances.) My brain temporarily returned to consideration of provenance, systems of arrangement and rights of ownership and use.
      - Met up with travel buddy #2 (C) at our hotel. More long chats catching up on adventures.
      - Dinner in a real British pub with real British patrons and Wimbledon on the big screen.
      - Happy Independence Day cinnamon rolls with C in the square.
      - Election results on the TV.
      - Sleep.
      Yes, it's actually London!
