A day at Lake St. Claire

After a morning bike ride with Tom and Nancy along the Huron River and breakfast at Panera, we drove to St. Claire Shores Park in Detroit.
We prepared the sailboat and enjoyed a fantastic day of sailing with strong winds (15-20 mph) and high temperatures in the 30s (Celsius). We sailed up to 7.5 knots across the border into Canada, watched a freighter from the Marshall Islands up close, and made our way back along the shores of Grosse Pointe, a rather affluent neighborhood of Detroit with some huge mansions and lots of yachts.
Back at the marina we jumped in the pool to cool off, drove back to Ann Arbor and finished the day with some craft beers at Homes Brew Pub (I had the Blueberry Sour 😋) and Impossible Burgers with corn at home.Read more

Müsli und Milch haben mich heute lang gesättigt. Die erste Hälfte bis zu Fähre war entweder Highway ohne Seitenstreifen oder Schotterpiste mit dicken Steinen. Manchmal bin ich vorsorglich großen LKWs ausgewichen. Aber es wurde nie eng oder gefährlich.
Dann ging es auf die Fähre über die Grenze wieder in die USA. Kurze Grenzkontrolle, er hat Verwandtschaft in Mecklenburg Vorpommern.
Mittagspause bei DQ meinen erstes Blizzard Eis. Gut, dass ich nur die kleine Portion genommen habe, mir wurde zum Ende schon fast schlecht.
Noch kurz beim Liquor Store angehalten und endlich meinen kleinen Flachmann gefüllt. Ich habe mich für Fireball entschieden, davon habe ich irgendwo schon gehört. Später erst aufgefallen, dass es Zimtschnaps ist, gefällt mir!
Noch 10 km auf der vierspurigen Straße und Ankunft bei Joy und Ihrem Mann. Seine Eltern stammen aus Deutschland. Beide sehr Erfahrene Radreisende. Eine Saison im Yellowstone Nationalpark gearbeitet. Our second flight was over 8 long hours. Upgrading to Economy Premium was nicer than Coach, with larger recliner seats, large blankets and meals with menus, real plates and utensils. The pillow worked best for my butt!
For dinner onboard I chose the salmon. Breakfast was cheeses and fruit. In Frankfort now, waiting for our third and final flight to Istanbul.Read more
