    The back repair story

    October 9, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 9 °C

Today getting up wasn't that easy after the couple of beers last night (we tasted many IPA's and all of them were very delicious 😁).
After breakfast and some travel advice for Patagonia from the brewery staff, we cycled to Truckee through beautiful Sierra Valley. Luckily, we had tail winds most of the time, so the climbing sections were not too exhausting. In Truckee, we looked for a chiropracter to get Meike's back "repaired". On the second attempt we found the right specialist for her issue. It took only 30min (including waitimg time) and 70$ to get all vertebrae into the right position again. All people in the waiting room were very interested in our travel story. One couple even invited us to stay at their home tomorrow night.
After the treatment, we cycled around Truckee and Donner Lake before riding to our hosts for the night, Anne and Forest, a well-traveled couple with their 2 sons who were great company over an awesome dinner.

    Heimfahrt über Truckee

    March 17, 2019 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 11 °C

Sonntag Abend kommen wohl viele vom Skifahren wieder zurück. Es war insgesamt ein sehr schöner Kurzurlaub 👌

    White water rafting

    July 15, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

We had to wake up early AGAIN because we were going white water rafting!! 👏 👏 👏 white water Rafting is where you go on a raft and the current pushes you on the river! In rafting, from highest to lowest there are 5 levels. Today we will be doing level 3. It was my first time and I was hoping there were no 🐟 fish. It took 1 hour by car and 10 minutes on the white water rafting bus 🚌. Me,Conor and another boy were the only children. The rest were adults. A professional photographer called Chris was there and He used me as the model for the opening slide! He chose me because he said "You look like you have a nice smile." 😊 I was on the first photo holding a "enjoy the video sign!!" We got everything set up and Adam (a leader) chose Ivan for us, because Ivan was the most experienced and the best for children. We got on our raft and off we went. The Truckee river is a very clear and a very shallow river and is 5 miles long. We were allowed to swim in the 'Swimming holes where the water is deep and calm. Me and Conor went in the Swimming hole twice and it was VERY cold, the water was app.15 c and Conor had goosebumps! We used our paddles when Ivan said to used them. When we were on our first rapid the drop wasn't that big. On the second drop, it was deep and the third level rapids, (there were 2: 'Jaws' and 'Pinball') I was most scared about pinball because we were the 'ball'. When we went on Jaws there was a HUGE drop! Water came in from everywhere and me and Conor's teeth were chattering!!! It was freezing, colder than summer in Ireland 🇮🇪!!! Conor was going to cry because he didn't want to go on Pinball, but I told him "would you rather stay in this river for the whole night, or just do Pinball" and he replied "Pinball" and after all, Pinball wasn't scary.
That was veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery fun and I want to do that again!!!!!!

    Camping Thaoe Forest

    September 29, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

    Around and up to Donner

    July 19, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ⛅ 23 °C

We stopped off to look at the island where the crazy "look at my toes" hermit lived but you can see the haze is still thick. Franklin took a few pots shots with the "cannon".

It wasn't long up to Donner Lake where the kids helped set up shop. We had a nice pasta dinner and then - our first screen activity in a couple weeks - we watched "The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly" with the laptop on the dashboard. Well - with watched the first half and finished it the next night. Samantha liked the movie but isn't convinced Clint was particularly "good". Still - it wax the perfect movie given all the land we'd travelled through.Read more

    Paddleboarding Donner

    July 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 21 °C

After a quick breakfast, doing laundry, and cleaning 1000 miles of bugs off the windshield, we took Samantha's advice and tried paddle boarding. It was great - though taking pictures while boarding was a challenge!Read more

    More pics and a scramble

    July 20, 2017 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

We kept going through the tunnels (about 2 miles worth). We had to scramble a few times through washouts, and Franklin impressed us with a great climb up to the roof!

The view at the end of the tunnel was great!Read more
