• Bus Ride to Bergen

Today I set off on a Nettbus to Bergen, an 8 hour trip down the coast through the scenery of the fjords. There were 4 short ferry crossings during the journey, the longest being 20 minutes, where it was nice to step out of the bus for a while and stand in the fresh air as we crossed the still waters of the fjord. The bus and ferry system is very efficient, everything perfectly timed, and although a long day it was fairly comfortable, but I did wonder after about 6 hours whether it would have been better to fly. But I wanted to see the scenery, and passing through the little towns, where locals got off and on the bus, often at remote bus stops, I felt like I was seeing the country. At last we crossed the large bridge into Bergen arriving at the large bus station at 8.20pm. Sun was still shining and I had just a quick walk to my hotel, to go to bed in the sunlight.Read more
