Von Buon Ma Thout nach Kon Tun

    Yesterday in Vietnam

Next day to continue our road trip. It started with some Wellness for our Motorbike, because it needed some new oil. After that we started our 230 km to Kon Tun. There was nothing special to see on this route so we drove with some short stops only.

    Pleiku bus terminal

    May 29, 2017 in Vietnam

After about 12 hours sitting bus from Pakse, Laos, we arrived at the bus terminal of Pleiku, Vietnam. With an hour of stop we had time to grab some dinner and head back to another sleeper bus which got us within another 10 hours to Saigon. The economic capital of Vietnam.

    Chůr Đăng crater

    June 29, 2017 in Vietnam

We rode motorbikes from Pleiku to Kon Tum via Chůr Đăng volcanic crater. We rode down local roads until nearly the end when two local men pointed us down a red dirt track to a path up the crater. The views from the top were superlative. The soil must be rich because vegetables grow in abundance.

    Pleiku / Gia Lai

    June 28, 2017 in Vietnam

We spent three nights in Pleiku, which is known locally as Gia Lai. The town only has a population of about 250,000. There's so much delicious and cheap street food. We bought a kite to fly one afternoon. The lady who sold us the kite was determined to help us fly it but there wasn't enough wind.

  • Day13

    Kon Tum to Pleiku

    July 1, 2017 in Vietnam

The ride down QL14 (aka AH17) was fast. After just one hour of riding through the mountains we returned to Pleiku from where we will catch a bus to Da Nang. For the most part, the ride was easy. But, as with any riding in South East Asia, there were some moments where we wondered what on earth other road users were doing.

    Chu Se, Vietnam

    February 14, 2016 in Vietnam

Where the bike broke down for two days in the middle of nowhere. Basically, the Vietnamese equivalent of Versailles, Missouri. No English was spoken for 50 hours. Shout out to Google Translate. A $50 setback on a new carburetor got me happily, albeit skeptically, back on the road and I made it to Pleiku within two hours.
