  • Cruising with Captain Cook

    January 31, 2019 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 33 °C

Today we took to the waters and headed out on a Captain Cook tour down the Swan River from Perth’s Elizabeth Quay (known locally as Betty’s Jetty) to Fremantle (known locally as Freo). This was an hour and 15 minutes down the river, through some lovely coastline and then a return that included our lunch. The accompanying Captain’s commentary was entertaining and interesting! The weather here is getting very hot. Today 36c was forecast .....but it often felt a lot hotter. The locals and indeed most of the tourists headed for the air conditioned indoors of the boat, whilst Tracy and Ken had the outside to ourselves! One of the things we noticed whilst outside on the boat was the quantity of nasty looking jellyfish in the water! No swimming off this boat! However, conversely it was lovely to see some of the amazing houses that sit along the shore line, but we decided that on balance we would not be swapping any of them for our place in Portugal!Read more
