2018 starts with a very obvious trip to Barcelona.
Why obvious? Come on man, tapas... not! As someone wise (more or less) probably said once, "Go there where your heart belongs. Especially if there is some good wine there."
We obviously went crazy on food, afternoon drinks and cuddles.
The saturday dinner at this hidden restaurant on Pla de Palau was fun. First time in my life did I eat snails... a bit weird... definitely not something I am eager to eat again. The rest however was superb. Shrimps, small fish things, black rice and fried squid, foie gras and other delicacies; a delight for the amateur gourmets!
Sunday afternoon was spent at our usual roof terrace in Port Vell imagining future weekends in Barcelona.

It took some time to write this one. Lazyness obviously but also because it is difficult to find something unordinary that happened this weekend.
The classic 7:10 flight to Warsaw. The recurrent car rental and drive to Lodz. The usual visit to the Bytom shop and the unsurprisingly larger than expected shopping bags. The compulsory gambling tour in the casino. The repetitive but always tasty food at home.

The only thing setting this trip apart from the others is that Lukasz was in Cyprus that weekend and I had to have fun alone.

Also, the Nissan Qashqai is a shitty car.Læs mere

Barcelona, here we go again.

Friday off so I could take an early flight and enjoy an additional afternoon in sunny, uh no rainy.. uh no... cloudy barcelona (forecast changed every 5 minutes).

We started off with some terrace then tapas. We found a pretty big boat in the port... the Dilbar, biggest yacht in the world.
We also discovered totally by chance a fantastic restaurant. The owner, Mirilla I presume, spoke perfect french, english and spanish (probably, wasnt able to judge myself...). We went for a drink and we felt so good there we booked a table for the next day.

On Saturday we tries our witts in Barcelocked, an escape room in the heart of Barcelona. The room was huge and filled with riddles and puzzles. Although we required 2 hints (but hey there were only 2 of us!) we escaped the room with 2 minutes left on the clock. Yay us!

The usual terrace on Sunday afternoon as well as some Navajos (?) concluded yet another amazing weekend in Barcelona!Læs mere

Istanbul by winter

December 2017, work dinner. My buddy Evrim says:
"You still didn't come to visit me in Istanbul".
So I opened the internet and booked my flight while the waiter filled for the 4th time my glass of wine.

Until the last moment I was not sure I would go but luckily I did. Even if the hour long transfer from the airport, the usual queue at the immigration desk, and the relatively cold weather tested my faith in my decision making.

Evrim played his host role to perfection. Nice cocktails, bars and restaurants. Friday evening we hit a cocktail bar with a small dancefloor and a very talented french DJ. Since we were in Istanbul we obviously had pizza for breakfast on Saturday and went to see Black Panther in the afternoon. In the evening we had a proper party in yet another stunning location, overlooking the bosphorus bridge. And instead of the late night kebab we had fried turkish dumplings (manti).

As we overslept a bit I almost missed my flight but in the end I got back happy to Zurich.Læs mere
