    Guten Morgen!
    In 4h geht es in Richtung Kloten los!

    Gestern Morgen bin ich im Wallis mit Zahnschmerzen erwacht und durfte dann am Abend notfallmässig einen Zahn ziehen! So starte ich diese. Reise mit Antibiotika und Schmerzmittel. Zum Glück war das gestern und nicht heute…. Und zum Glück habe ich jetzt keine Schmerzen!

    Ich werde nun kurz nach 13.00 nach Bangkok (12h) und dann gleich weiter nach Chiang Mai (1.5h) fliegen. So komme ich nach CH Zeit genau in 24h in Chiang Mai mit 6h Vorsprung an!

    Diese Reisetagebuch funktioniert mit GPS und sollte jeden meiner Wege und Bilder aufzeichnen. Gerne werde ich ab und zu mich hier auch in Prosa üben!

    Ich wünsche dir eine wunderbare, besinnliche Weihnachts- und Altjahreswoche, einen stimmigen Jahreswechsel und viel Spass beim lesen dieses Reisetagebuch!

    Sweet Home: Mo Rooms in Chiang Mai

    Ich bin in Chiang Mai angekommen, seit über 24h wach und freue mich nun auf mein Zimmer, eine Dusche und einen Thai Ice tea!
    Wie erwartet, hat mich der Taxifahrer vom Flughafen hier her total über den Tisch gezogen 😂. Statt 4.- wollte er 8.-…

    Für die ersten beiden Nächte, bevor es dann mit dem TukTuk in die Berge geht, gönne ich mir das einzige Hotel auf dieser Reise: Mo rooms ist ein Designhotel im urbanen Stil, in dem Sichtbeton und skulpturale Hölzer mit natürlichen Materialien kombiniert werden. Jedes der Zimmer mit chinesischem Tierkreiszeichen wurde von einem anderen thailändischen Künstler dekoriert, was für einzigartige Visionen in der Inneneinrichtung sorgt.
    Mit 20.- pro Übernachtung richtig teuer, aber zum an klimatisieren total passend!

    5 Gehminuten entfernt locken der berühmte Nachtbasar von Chiang Mai und die Sunday Walking Street. Aber nun erstmal ankommen und schlafen!
    P.s. via a vis hat es eine Zahnklinik😂, ganz wäre ich also nicht aufgeschmissen gewesen.    Читать далее

    Doi Suthep Tempel

    Nach 17h Schaf, bei schönstem Wetter erwacht und in Richtung Altstadt aufgebrochen.

    Beim Besuch des ersten Tempel habe ich Mon kennengelernt. Mon ist 53, hat Kinder im selben Alter wie ich und wir verstanden uns auf Anhieb. Nach eine Gespräch nahm ich sein Angebot mich zum Doi Suthep Tempel zu fahren an! Das ist eine rund 40 Minuten lange fahrt auf den “Hausberg” von Chiang Mai. So habe ich also in einem Tempel in Chiang Mai meinen privaten Driver gefunden und lasse mir von ihm auf der Fahrt alles über sein Leben und die unzähligen Sehenswürdigkeiten erzählen.

    Während in anderen Länder überall Müll auf und in den Strassen liegt, ist Chiang Mai unglaublich sauber. Keine Zigistummel, kein Plastik.
    Selbst als wir den über 1300m hohen Berg zum Doi Suthep hochfahren, könnte man von den Strassen essen…. Welt: Nehmt euch ein Beispiel!

    Wer zum im 1373 erbauten Tempel will, muss die rund 200 Stufen im Urwald erklimmen. Das Besondere an der Treppe ist das Geländer, das aus zwei ewig langen Nagas gebildet wird. Nagas sind eine Art Schlangenmenschen, um die sich mindestens genau so viele Legenden drehen, wie um den Wat Phra That Doi Suthep selbst.

    Es hat immer noch wenige Touris und so sind vor allem Thais hier oben. Lotusblüten- und Räucherstäbchenduft mischt sich mit den leisen Gebeten. Sehr eindrücklich!    Читать далее

    Der Mönchsweg….

    Mon ist so sympathisch, dass ich beschliesse mir von ihm noch weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten zeigen zu lassen. Ich: Lass uns von den Touris weg gehen und zeig mir ‚„dein“ Thailand! Was er natürlich nicht macht. Aber total ok.

    Und ehe ich mich versehe, sind wir im Dschungel auf dem alten Mönchspfad von Chiang Mai nach Doi Suthep.

    Meterhoher schwarzer Bambus und ebenso hoher Papyrus. Strelitzien, sowie Tropetenblumen säumen den Weg und die Wasserläufe….
    Es ist ein verwunschener, märchenhafter Wald und immer wieder einfache wunderschöne Tempel….    Читать далее

    Mons Eltern sind in Thailand geboren, die Grosseltern in China… Und Mon erklärt mir, Seide kommt nicht aus China. Sondern schon immer aus Thailand.
    Bevor er mir Seidenraupen zeigen will, halten wir in einem local place und essen.

    Ich verstehe weder die Karte noch spricht hier jemand Englisch. Daher bitte ich Mon mir etwas ohne Fleisch zu bestellen. Dafür lade ich ihn ein und wir essen für 3.70 (130 B) für zwei Personen und das reichlich!!!! Als Vergleich der Medium-Soja- Kaffee im Starbucks in der Altstadt von Chiang Mai kostet 160 B. !!!!!! Sprich Starbucks ist für den Thai nicht bezahlbar. Auch nicht nötig. Werde Lana-Kaffee-Bohnen heimbringen!🥰

    Zurück zu der Seide: Tatsächlich zum ersten Male in meinem Leben sehe ich wie aus dem Kokon der Raupe dieser Falter schlüpft… (Nach 8-10 Tagen schlüpfen die Falter mit dem einzigen Zweck der Paarung. Das Weibchen legt 400-600 Eier und stirbt dann. Die Lebensdauer der Falter beträgt ca. 4 Tage.)

    Der Seidenspinner durchläuft in seiner Entwicklung fünf Larvalstadien, die durch vier Häutungsphasen voneinander abgegrenzt werden. Während der Häutungsphasen fressen die Tiere nicht, sondern verharren in einer starren Sphinx-Haltung. Das sieht echt krass aus… Die Raupen leben zu hunderten in Korbschalen, werden gefüttert und gemistet, bis diese sich verpuppen.

    Ich weiss… um Seide zu gewinnen, muss man die Kokons kochen und die Raupen darin sterben. Tierschützer, verzeiht mir. Dennoch finde ich das Handwerk sehr beeindruckend. Alles Handarbeit und eben auch Arbeit(s)plätze… Nicht Maschinen weben die Stoffe….

    TukTuk Driving Lessons

    By chance, I came across the Tuktuk Club while doing research. And I knew: that's what I want to do.
    Without further ado I wrote to Bruce. Knowing that there is no tour in my time window. First it looked bad... but Bruce is Bruce and in the end he made the trip possible. Thanks Bruce.
    Who wants can drive himself. What I don't want. First, there is left-hand traffic and I want to enjoy the view, so I let drive.
    Bruce is English, has lived in Thailand for years and has traveled the country himself by TukTuk. His passion to show us his Thailand is noticeable even by e-mail.
    Bruce picked me up with Boyz our guide for the next days, this morning in Chiang Mai. Also in Real Bruce is simply a good soul!
    "Unfortunately" we will only be on the road for 3 days. There are also longer tours like 7 or 11 day tours.
    I can only highly recommend this tour and everyone who is in Thailand should do it without ifs and buts. Convince yourself:

    This place is one of the most beautiful places to stay in my life. I am absolutely blown away right from the start.

    The cooking is done on the fire. And the food is incredible.

    Far and wide there are no more tourists. The children and adults wave at the roadside when we pass by with the TukTuk. It could not be better!

    Secret waterfall

    The last 3 days of the trip I will be in the rainforest and where am I now??? The forest in the national park here is incredible. The rainforest in the national park Khao Sok I could have saved myself accordingly. Wild growing orchids, watercourses and the lush green. Boyz leads us to a "secret" waterfall. Jacob finds the water too cold. I have to get in. It could be a fountain of youth, after all. And that's exactly what it feels like!Читать далее

    Local Market

    A local market in the middle of nowhere. There is so much to marvel at.
    We drove past countless strawberry fields. At this market they sell them still unripe, so white. I am totally amazed. Boyz explained to me that many Thais buy strawberries on vacation and then take them to the south, or wherever they live/work. To do this, these must be white, otherwise they would not survive the trip and then arrive perfectly ripe in the distance.
    Soon it will be New Year and people will come here with the children to buy the new clothes. There is what there is... It is a great event to get new clothes! I am filled with the joy of the children.
    Jacob tries Thai ice cream and I try seaweed for the first time. A snack made of seaweed. And again I am blown away.
    By the way, I like the water spinach. It is easy to grow yourself, I will try it at home.

    It is impressive that everything is utilized by an animal and eaten just as happily.    Читать далее

    hike day part 1

    We roam through the villages of the Kareens. It is a simple life, in and in the middle of nature.
    For fish, you go to the river. For sea spinach, too. Everything else grows somewhere and can simply be harvested. Whoever finds something, for example a pumpkin, shares it with the other villagers. Only the rice, the residents have to plant themselves.

    We live again very simple and in Thai style. The night is cold and I do not take off my down jacket even in bed.

    A lunch costs here between 40 and 60 Baht. No 2.- and the amount is more than enough.    Читать далее

    Railstation/Nighttrain

    Actually, I had booked 1st class. For whatever reason, I was booked on the 2.class. First I had concerns and was briefly thinking about whether I should rather fly. Totally unnecessary.

    At the beginning of the platform is already someone and explains one which car to head for. Hardly arrived, one is accompanied to the seat. Hardly dismounted, tea and coffee is served and who likes, even gets food. Barely an hour later, the conductor comes and makes you fresh bed.
    The wagon is full of monks. What should happen there? Everyone pulls the curtain and sleeps. Also I. However, I wake up because I talk in my sleep and was too loud even for me! ...    Читать далее

    Bangkok early morning

    Shortly after 6 am my train arrives in bangkok. Now it goes by cab once queer through the city to the airport. Today I meet my sailing group in phuket.

    The night train from chiang mai to bangkok was very comfortable, even in 2nd class and recommended. Shortly after choiang mai the conductor prepared the beds. With fresh pillows and blankets. I slept wonderfully.Читать далее

    We had a long tail boat come to pick us up from our boat to James Bond at 6.45 am. A little bit early today but it was great to have a privat island just for our group to enjoy and walking around before all tourists came.

     Khao Phing Kan (Thai: เขาพิงกัน, literally slate rock) is an island in the bay of Phang-nga in southern Thailand. We already left at 6am and are alone on the island at this time.
    Khao Phing Kan has become known as "James Bond Island" and by the offshore rock needle Khao Ta-Pu.
    In 1974, Roger Moore landed in front of the island's impressive scenery as Her Majesty's secret agent in the film The Man with the Golden Gun.    Читать далее
