Well hello Edinburgh!! (Seat back flight simulator version).

It’s surreal to be here . This place is so incredibly beautiful, and yet feels so utterly familiar and comfortable. It’s like finding the place that just fits you.

And I did make it a whole hour and a half into my time in Scotland before having a knife pulled on me.

Allow me to explain. It was a butter knife, and pulled by a nice old lady in a service station trying to help meme out opening the SIM slot to accommodate the prepaid card I’d just bought from her. She heard the accent and thought the Croc Dundee reference was hilarious. In hind sight (the wisdom of the stairs as the French say) I should have turned it into a game of knifey spoony.

Now that was quite the day! A climb of Beinne A Chrulaiste this morning saw me take a bit of a spill in a river in the dark, wind up drenched from the rain, wet grass and bogey mess, only to arrive just before sunrise in almost total whiteout.

This afternoon was an even bigger climb, but the conditions made it completely worth it! The weather and light was alternately minding blowingly gorgeous , and then howling gale, freezing rain and heavy skies. And the fascinating thing is how quickly it all changes then changes back again. I got some good shots with my proper camera, but it was all changing so quickly that at times all I could do was whip the iPhone out of my pocket to capture a moment.
