    June 8 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 16 °C

Almost packed... we fly out of Sydney within 24 hours!

  • Day 2

    Beijing

    June 10 in Wales ⋅ ⛅ 13 °C

Flew into Beijing. A 10hour layover here. Not the fancy airport we expected… maybe we are just in the transit area? The flight was rather turbulent… not bad, just a lot of it. Despite this, all 3 of us have somehow slept a lot, including on the seats at the airport. Our flight to London left Beijing around 5pm local time and arrived around 830pm London time. Flying time was around 11hrs, but was daylight the whole way. China Air served a dinner meal, then made the cabin dark (cue you are expected to sleep), then woke us up 3 hrs before landing. By this stage, we had no idea what meal we were up to … I thought we should be served breakfast, however it was either chicken and rice (for the 3rd time in 24 hrs), or beef and noodles….. the food was very hot and completely acceptable as far as aeroplanes go.

Nate found the leg room to be just the same as Emirates, which was interesting. As for neck pillows, our flyhugz were very supportive and worked well!

The English barrier is rather difficult at times. Mum asked for a cup of tea with 2 sugars, but we were given a cup of tomato juice. We asked again for a cup of tea, which we described as tea and coffee, and so we were given a tea and coffee… and then I asked for apple juice… we ended up with so many cups!!

Flight path from Beijing was north of Moscow and then down over Amsterdam.

A very seamless arrival into Heathrow. With an Australian passport, you basically just walk straight through! Picked up our hire car with minimal difficulty and drove to our accomm at Maidenhead (Slough). Finally fell into bed around midnight,

    Llandudno

    June 11 in Wales ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Drove to North Wales for a mini holiday. We have three nights here in a lovely ground floor apartment that is 2 blocks back from the promanade and pier. It is a chilly summer’s day, but we have walked the streets and got our bearings of the town. We are still not quite in the right sync of meals, maybe tomorrow!Read more
