Randy's activity continues to be limited as he's still in the post op boot and on crutches. He arranged for the interior of Sharon and Larry's home to be painted and for the installation of new carpet. I've been helping Sharon with paint and carpet choices and the moving and packing of "stuff".
Kyle grilled burgers for our Father's Day meal. We've had a busy two weeks. Kelsie & I shared a delicious Cuban meal at Que' Bola after helping Uncle Kay & Auntie Aki with house cleaning and yard work. https://www.portlandmercado.org/que-bola-story

We joined our neighbors, Patsy & Ken, for monster burgers on the 4th. Thanks so much for your hospitality.

We had a wonderful evening swapping stories about growing kids, new careers, marriage, aging parents, travel... life in general.
I helped Sharon & Larry move furniture and "stuff" before and after carpet installation.
Randy had a post op visit with Dr. Mercer and is now crutch free!

Today Sharon, Larry, Randy & I made our annual pilgrimage to Allie and Tom's blueberry patch. Randy and I picked about 6 gallons of berries and visited with Allie's uncle and aunt, our good friends Kathy and (birthday boy) Jim. We've had a good week. Kelsie and I helped Auntie Aki & Uncle Kay ready their house and yard for houseguests from Texas. Sharon and Larry taught us a new board game, Pegs & Jokers, so much fun! Ate at the food cart pods in Sandy. Bought a net and lined out our own private pickleball court. The backcourts are only half size but we're getting some good practice in and the location is oh so convenient. I've also been working with the Sandy Senior Center in getting some courts lined out at a city park.
Yesterday Randy and I went to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Fun Day. We were treated to hamburgers, toured the campus and watched the new puppy raisers get their pups. Our neighbor, Patsy, volunteers there and also fosters dogs. https://www.guidedogs.com/funday
Today we celebrated my Auntie Toku's birthday with a family dinner. Her grandson, Matthew, and Chay will be getting married on Friday. The rest of the Texas clan will be arriving as the week progresses.Baca lagi

Yippee! Randy is out of his walking boot and into a shoe. He can now drive and starts physical therapy tomorrow.
We've been harvesting tomatoes, parsley and basil from our container garden and picking blackberries at Kay & Aki's.
I upgraded my Instant Pot during Amazon Prime Days and upped my usage from 2-3 days per week to 3-5. Love the ability to make yogurt in the new model!
Thursday I took Auntie Toku, Auntie Aki and Kelsie to Clackamas Repertory Theater's production of South Pacific. It was very well done and we all enjoyed the show.
Randy washed the motorhome in half the time it usually takes using his new deionization car wash system. 😊Baca lagi

Tuesday we had a late celebration of Kelsie's birthday, met her friend Braden and enjoyed a delicious meal and family time.
Wednesday we met our friends Chad & Leslie, who are camp hosting at Silver Falls State Park and Jim & Angie, who summer at Cross Creek Golf Course, for dinner at Trapala in Woodburn. We enjoyed a delicious meal with our RVing friends. http://www.trapalarestaurant.com/
Thursday we headed to the Bounty Hunter for dinner with Lesa & Dean. So nice to get caught up with our Oregon friends when we're in town.

Saturday we toured the Oregon Gardens with Kathy and Jim. It was even more beautiful than when we visited 14 years ago. I purchased a membership for Randy and I which included reciprocal admission at over 300 gardens throughout North America. We stopped for lunch and libations at the Gallon House then headed to Silver Falls State Park to check out Chad & Leslie's campsite and partake of the delicious fajita dinner they prepared. Spent three nights in Coburg hoping to replace our microwave convection oven but there was a two week wait for delivery so we headed back to home base. We did manage to groom Kuma and take a day trip to the coast while they were getting authorization for the new oven.
Spent time helping elderly relatives. Shawn, Alan and Jan dropped by for a short visit. Randy smoked his best batch of ribs to date... so tender and moist. YUM!

As always Gary and Carrie were hosts extraordinaire. They kept us entertained, well fed and "watered". We spent Labor Day night at "Camp Monaco" in Coburg to get our new convection/microwave oven installed. Tuesday we played some pickleball at Meadow Park and stopped at Harry's Berries for produce, while our oven was installed, then headed to Richardson Park Campground on Fern Ridge Lake. https://www.eugenecascadescoast.org/listing/ric…
We biked the park daily, kayaked the lake from Perkins Penninsula Park, took some country drives, read and binge watched Nos4a2.
Sunday we headed back to Meadow Park for pickleball where we met Robert & Nancy. They winter in Palm Desert so we plan on getting together when we head south for the winter.
A final stop at Harry's Berries produce stand in Coburg. What a haul! We purchased about 15 lbs of produce for $10.

We've kept busy the past two weeks with doctor appointments, our own and transporting family members, and helping Kay & Aki with yard and house work. My Uncle Kay spent his 86th birthday in the hospital receiving his third round of inpatient chemo. He's a real trooper and is doing well, all things considered.

Wednesday we headed to Salem for a four night stay at the Phoenix RV Park. We met my sister, Marcia, for happy hour before attending the musical

Thank you Marcia for treating us to a night of excellent musical theater.
Thursday we toured the Oregon State Hospital Museum of Mental Health where "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" was filmed. https://oshmuseum.org/
Later Jim and Angie came over for a visit before headed to La Hacienda Real for my birthday dinner. Delicious handmade tortillas.
Friday we toured Oregon's State Capitol building.
It was finally dry after two days of rain so we took a drive to Albany where we played some pickleball and went to their farmers market.

We had a lovely drive back to our home base then enjoyed a delicious birthday dinner prepared by my MIL, Sharon. The pumpkin mousse was especially yummy. Sunday was spent celebrating my birthday with family. We spent last Sunday and Monday night at the service center in Coburg while they refinished the cabinet that was damaged during the microwave/convection oven installation last month. We shampooed and clipped Kuma at Suds em Yourself and bought produce at Harry's Berries.
Tuesday and Wednesday was spent boondocking at Spirit Mountain Casino. Wednesday we played pickleball at Dorchester Park in Lincoln City before Dean & Lesa arrived. Deaned mixed up his famous martinis before we had dinner at the Casino sports bar where they serve a killer burger.
Thursday we headed to Sea & Sand RV Park. https://seaandsandrvpark.com/
After a beach walk we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Lesa & Dean's.
Friday we had lunch at the Horn Public House, strolled Depoe Bay, shuffleboard at the Salishack Tavern in Gleneden Beach then back to our place for dinner and singing along to vintage music videos.
Saturday we enjoyed the best pizza to be had on the Oregon coast, if not the whole state, at the Tide Pool Pub before taking a long walk on the beach.
As always we had a wonderful time during our annual beach trip with Dean and Lesa.

Last Sunday we arrived at Seaside RV Resort where we enjoyed a week of near perfect fall weather. 🌞🍁🎃

We've kept busy the last 25 days taking relatives and ourselves to medical and dental appointments;
visiting friends; dining out; celebrating my fil's 83rd birthday which was also my in law's 65th wedding anniversary; and of course gathering with family for Thanksgiving which coincided with my sister Marcia &
Auntie Aki's birthdays.🦃🎂 It was great seeing cousin Matthew and his wife Chay who drove all the way from Reno, Nevada.

We hit the road for our migration to warmer weather at 6:45am Friday, taking advantage of the 24 hour window of opportunity to cross over the Siskiyous and Shasta before the next snowfall. Our first night was spent at Rolling Hills Casino RV Park then south through olive and citrus orchards to The Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield, California.

We battled high winds coming over Tahachapi Pass and a bit of traffic over Cajon Pass and through San Bernardino but all in all a good final leg into Desert Hot Springs. Another week of sunshine and pickleball. Monday we hosted happy hour. Thursday evening we shopped, walked and ate our way through the Village Fest in Palm Springs. http://villagefest.org/
Friday we went to dinner with Jim & Angie at Bill's Pizza before enjoying "Wildlights" at the Living Desert Zoo. https://www.livingdesert.org/events-and-tours/s…

Monday's weather was perfect for our annual Magnesia Falls Canyon hike with Pattie and Marc. My cousin Steve joined us as well. We didn't spot big horn sheep but still managed to have a wonderful day.
We helped Jim and Angie decorate their golf cart then enjoyed the golf cart parade of lights followed by hot chocolate in the lower clubhouse.
With snow forecasted for the Siskiyous on Sunday we decided to begin our journey back to Oregon, to celebrate Christmas with family, a day early. We had an uneventful, though long drive, with an overnight stop in Willows, CA with detours at the Olive Pit,https://www.olivepit.com/mobile/ Rogue Creamery http://www.roguecreamery.com/store/and Lillie Belle Chocolates http://www.lilliebellefarms.com/ for some last minute Christmas gifts. Saturday afternoon we arrived at Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay's in Milwaukie, OR where we'll be staying the next 6 nights.Baca lagi

We've hosted our annual Christmas Eve Dinner at Auntie Aki and Uncle Kay's since becoming full time RVers. Randy's smoked ribs were delicious as were Marcia's mac & cheese and collard greens. Dessert was provided by Dave, Kelsie and Marcia. A full on southern feast was enjoyed by our family.
We spent Christmas morning at Randy's mom and dad's. Sharon prepared a yummy brunch then we exchanged gifts and played cards into the early afternoon.
Back to Kay and Aki's for Marcia's clam feast, steamed and fried and Sally's caesar salad.
Thursday we took Kelsie to Giuseppe's for lunch then dropped off a pizza at Kyle's as he had to work. Later that evening Mark and Lynette dropped by for a visit.
As always we had a wonderful time returning to Oregon for the holidays. Many thanks to Aki and Kay for hosting us.
We return to Cat Spa in Desert Hot Springs tomorrow...wish us luck over the mountain passes. 🤞

We had a beautiful drive back to Desert Hot Springs. Thursday night was spent in Willows, CA where we had scrumptious tacos at Elenita's, a wonderful family owned restaurant we highly recommend.

Friday we headed over Tejon pass, aka the Grapevine, which was closed due to snow the day before. Google maps suggested a detour off I 5 to hwy 138 to 15, very pretty until we hit holiday traffic and folks parked along the side of the road to play in the snow. A long travel day to say the least.
This was the first New Year's Eve I've not celebrated with my extended family. It was definitely quieter with far less food consumed. We had a great morning of pickleball New Year's Day followed by the Rose Bowl and a late lunch at Mario's with Jim, Angie & Steve.Baca lagi
