The first day on the road. [July 27]

    January 31, 2017 in Canada ⋅ 🌙 -3 °C

Hello friends, family and readers, I wrote two beginnings to this entry on different occasions but you can choose which ever one you like best!

We got up this fine morning and my Amma made me and my Brother a big batch of Pancakes! We packed up Bambi (our Camry) to the brim and said our final goodbyes to our grandparents. It was a very tearful moment for everyone. As I eyed the familiar looking trees and cabins I suddenly felt a very sad wave encircle me.

Today was our first day of our travels as you can see in the title. I got up earlyish and packed up my bag. I sat at the table in the center of our cabin for the last time this summer. I ate the emoji pancakes for the last time and hugged my grandparents for the last time. I cuddled up with their dog Mac for the final time. We said our good bye's and hopped into Bambi (our Camry) and drove down the road to our cabin and others. Looking out side consumed me in sadness.

We went along the highway and played a game of can you find the old trans Canada highway! We eventually found the husky the muskie in the city of Kenora Ontario. We stopped at a grocery store to pick up some root beer and some ice cream for our friends. When we left the store we went to their house. It was big and had a tree house in the back. We watched a Blue Jay game while we waited for the parents to make some hamburgers for us. When we got bored of the game, we went out back to play some soccer. Finally once we had topped our burgers with relish, ketchup, mustard, cheese, and BBQ sauce we chomped into the dripping deliciousness. We played with their dog for a bit until our parents told us to go get into our bathing suits. At that point we quickly jumped into them and then into the car. We got to the docks of lake of the woods after 15 minutes of driving. Then we went down to the boat and jumped into it. Once we were cruising the water we had a grand old time. We soon got to a place where we would hop into the kayak and swim. Once we were on our way back we had the ice cream floats and we hopped back into the cars. We drove to our friends house to pick up something that my brother left behind. We started to drive into the night and stopped at a KFC for dinner. We ate all of our food and went back to the car. Eventually I fell asleep for a long time. When we got to our hotel my mom called me awake and we went up to our room. Once we arrived I quickly hopped into my bed and slept.

    Winnipeg

    June 13, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We arrived in Winnipeg at 4:15 . I was super excited for all of the English signs because in Peru there's not much of that. We walked to baggage claim for our 8 bags but couldn't find one. One of the workers questioned our baggage and that added an hour to the time in the Airport. You are probably asking what will happen to the missing bag but my father sorted it out. When we finally made it out to see our family I thought they would be gone but it wasn't like that at all grandma grandpa and my uncle were patiently waiting for us. We decided to go grab a donut. Donut worry vanilla lovers I got a Canadian Maple Donut. You are probably wondering what is in said Canadian Maple Donut, it has a creamy caramel glaze with a cream centre and a vanilla donut. My brother and grandpa got Tim Bits. We went to my uncle and aunts house where I have two cousins who have a pet cat named catty. We chilled out with my cousins in their basement while the adults chilled up stairs. After about half an hour we went out for dinner at a lovely place called market burger. Donut worry I won't make you hungry. I had a burger. After saying chow to my grand parents we left for the house. We got ready for bed (which I at this point needed ). So I claimed the couch to sleep on and catty came to cuddle. The next morning I woke up it was still wet from the other day. I asked my aunt for some rye toast. After deciding to pick up our dog from Air Canada Cargo we jumped in the car. We picked her up and showed her to Leo ( our grandparents dog ).Read more

    Wakaw

    June 5, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

I’m sorry that I left you guys on a small cliff hanger, not nearly as bad as yesterday’s though, right? The questions going through your head are: What is gonna happen next, what will you eat, or where are you going next??? Well take a chill pill and read or listen to my story. We left Vonda around twelve to go to Wakaw. We went to the Co-op to stalk up on snacks like Double Stuff Oreos, but I didn’t have to pay for that. I bought a package of candies called Bottle Caps which have five flavours: Cherry, Orange, Root Beer, Cola, and Grape. I also bought a creamy cream soda and a package of very sour gum balls. We decided to hit the road to the little lake of Wakaw. It was too windy to go swimming so we stayed in the small cabin. At the cabin there was an over infestation of tent caterpillars and a swing. Most of the family was there; we had my grandpa and grandma, mom and dad, myself and my brother, my aunt and uncle on my dad’s side, my 4 cousins on my dad’s side, my grandma from my mom’s side, my other cousin from my mom’s side and my other uncle and aunt from my mom’s side. That’s 15 people, yes 15 people. Donut worry, I’m done with sides. We ate pork chops which cost about $17 for all of the chops. My mother made a marinade out of pink lemonade. That night we watched “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”, or in other words Hidden Wires. It was a good show except for all Chinese (there were only English subtitles.) After the show it was time for me to go to sweep, because I needed it. So we hit the sack.Read more

  • Vonda, Saskatchewan

    June 3, 2016 in Canada ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Well I guess I left you guys on a big cliff hanger. You are probably wondering what will I eat, what will happen and where will I happen to go??? (Vonda) Well sit down and chill. We took a two hour drive from Winnipeg to Brandon. The main thing that I remember is that we ate at a restaurant called Nicks Inn where I ate a Double Cheese Burger and drank a very soft and creamy vanilla ice-cream float with Root Beer. When we arrived at Brandon it was time for us to go to sweep. The next day we went to Yorktown, Saskatchewan where we ate burgers at A&W, went to Shoppers Drug Mart, and took the dog for a walk. If you don’t know what A&W is then that’s just sad, it just is. ;( A&W is a fast food restaurant which has grain buns, no steroids in their beef, and no hormones in their chicken. When we finally made it to Vonda, I was a little grumpy ‘cause my parents didn’t let me spend a dime of my money. We drove to my aunt and uncle’s house on my father’s side of the family where I have four cousins (two boys and two girls). We went outside where we roasted hot dogs and marshmallows. After dinner my brother and I argued about who got to sleep on the circular couch.(My brother won the argument). The next morning I woke up at about ten so my body clock got really messed up. I ate some whole grain toast which I didn’t particularly like. My father and uncle needed to work on a place for storing our stuff from Arequipa, Peru. With our cousins, we made a game with dominoes. It was very violent because you needed to make a tank and attack other people’s tanksRead more
