A day at Downton! I felt as if I should continuously pinch myself as I walked towards its doors. I feel immeasurably blessed to have taken such a truly special trip. Thank you Grandma and Dad!

After the day at Downton I drove back to London, returned the car and checked into my hotel room at a Holiday Inn Express at the airport. After a good meal I had a deeply restorative sleep and then walked to my gate the next morning. A perfect end to a rather perfect trip!Read more

After returning from Cornwall Sunday night I stayed with Nikki in her apartment. The next day was the hottest on record in England so we mostly stayed in the shade near the Clifton suspension bridge and drank the cider Nikki got me for my birthday. We also did some shopping and drank more cool beverages. That evening I drove a long, circuitous route to Inkpen to stay at The Crown and Garter. Damn GPS! The C&G was so poorly lit that I didn't find it for quite some time. It would have been nice to enjoy what turned out to be a lovely place.Read more

What a gorgeous day! We had a leisurely morning and then spent hours and hours in St. Ives. We sat on the beach, ate ice cream, hicked the cliffs and had drinks and snacks overlooking the ocean.

I began my day at the Ancient Roman Baths which have been dated back to AD 69!!! They served as the Temple of Sulis Minerva, Goddess of the thermal spring and were revered for their healing waters.
Afterwards, I went to one of Jane Austen's homes and corresponding museum.
After more sight-seeing I drove back to Bristol, happily gave the car keys to Nicole's boyfriend Greg, and then we all headed to Cornwall!Read more

Today I joined a small tour traveling to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock and Castle Combe. These are all located in the Cotswold's. It was a magical day with a great group of people!

This was our final day in Stratford-upon-Avon and we packed it full with more Shakespeare! We began our day in Holy Trinity Church where William was baptized and buried. It began being built in the 1200's. Following our visit to his graveside we visited the Schoolroom and Guildhall he was taught in. It is still used today! We finished our day by driving to Bristol where Nikki showed me her apartment, a little of her town, and enjoyed supper. Then I drove to Bath. A big day!Read more

We began our second day in Stratford-upon-Avon by visiting Anne Hathaway's cottage. Then we went to Shakespeare's New Place. The gardens were exceptional! We concluded the day by attending King Richard at the Royal Shakespeare Company. A fabulous day!Read more

After an odyssey-like journey to pick up the rental car and then drive to Oxford (with a GPS glitch of sending me towards Legoland) I finally joined Nikki on a tour of Oxford that included a punting ride on the River Cherwell. Afterwards, she took me out for a birthday dinner of sushi and then we retired to our hotel/pub, The Head of The River. Lovely!Read more
