    Wine & olive tasting.
    Dit was nou wraggies interessant en baie lekker.
    Olive chocolate? Dit het my brein gebreek.
    Olive biltong? Dries het daarvan gehou, ek nie.
    Maar die olive paste en olive jam, oh my goodness!
    Die wyn was amazing!
    Lemon infused olive oil? Yummy!

    We actually wanted to go for a beer tasting, but Darling Brew had their annual festival today. So we went there after Evita. Well, we walked out of there with gin, feta, a nice shirt, salami sticks, and some other goodies. We sure ain't gonna lose weight any time soon.
    By the way, the gin is amazing! But we did not buy any beer.

    It started with an unplanned rusk and cookie tasting. It ended with a fudge and toffee tasting!
    We ended up buying rusks, cookies, toffees, soft caramels and koeksisters!!
    We only live once.

    This is a Four-striped Grass Mouse. Every afternoon he comes up from the field for a bit of bird food. The dish on offer today was left over rice as the bird seed is finished.Read more

    The smallest town we have seen so far. Two shops, a church and a few houses. This town is in the middle of the farms (rooibos, onions, potatoes and wheat), with no opportunity of growth. Only a small portion of land was donated for the town and no more will be added.
    It is peaceful and quiet but it gets very hot in summer with temps above 40.    Read more

    Dis vloekwoord warm. Ons laptops overheat en hang. Beide laptops staan nou op ice bricks. Nou en dan haal ek my ice towel af, sit hom op 'n laptop en dan blaas Dries met die leaf blower. Dit werk!

    Die gatsby ervaring

    Ek het nog nooit 'n gatsby geëet nie. Dries ook nie. Ons het nog net daarvan gehoor. Dis nie 'n ding in Gauteng nie.
    Vandag is ons lus vir take-aways. Die week is besig en stresvol en daar was nie vandag tyd om oor kos te dink nie. Dries ry na die plaaslike take-away want ons wil die gatsby ding probeer. Gelukkig bestel hy medium en nie large nie. Daar is nie small beskikbaar nie. Dis twee enorme goed! Die helfte van een lê die blikbord vol. Ons het duidelik kos vir more ook.

    Mooiste dorpie. So skoon. Net voor mens in die dorp in ry, is daar 'n laning bome. Dit lyk soos 'n verwelkomingskommittee.
    Die Cederberge is mooi, ongelooflik mooi.
    Ben's Diner is duidelik die plek vir breakfast op hierdie dorp. Van buite af het dit effe dodgy gelyk maar binne was dit amazing.

    Date night at The Outpost

    We wanted to go out for dinner. The choice in Piketberg is Spur or The Outpost. We are on a mission to go on the roads less traveled and visit the places not known, so The Outpost was the obvious choice. My word. What an experience. The food was phenomenal! We will come again!
    My steak was flambéed at the table. That little bit of blue on the one photo is a flame. It was delicious! Dries had an amazing eisbein.
    We ordered dessert to take away. Will eat it in bed tonight.
