Kayaking on the St Lawrence

We woke this morning at Mer et Monde Camping after a long day driving and late arrival at our campsite. Beautiful spot. Had a morning kayak with porpoises, seals, minke, humpback whales and heard a blue whale and fin whale in the distance. (According to our guide). Had a lovely london fog and espresso at a lovely cafe in Esippit while waiting to take the ferry from Escoumins to Trois Pistoles this afternoon heading for Grand Falls for our second night camp.Read more

Souris awaiting Ferry to the “Maggies”

We had a longer day driving today after a relaxing morning which included a short hike by the Grand Falls and Gorge. (Can you see our bear, in the rocks?). We then drove south through Moncton, Shediac, Souris and now camping on the coast of PEI at Red Point Provincial Park. We will have a relaxed morning before heading to our ferry to the “Maggie’s”.Read more

Premier Discovery Day of the Magdalen Is

We had a very relaxed morning setting up camp, making breakfast, and then walking the shore looking at seals and shore birds. Dean and Dawn then took us on a tour of the islands to give us an overview. We went to the Micro Brasserie and Dean and Dawn made us lobster rolls for lunch to accompany our local beer. We then travelled to the most southern point stopping for a hike up the cliffs and later bird watching at La Grave.Read more

Kiting, Goat Cheese and Sand Sculptures

Today we were spectators to Dawn and Dean kiting and then headed to a goat cheese shop, sand art shop and artisan area (La Grave). What a wonderful day.

Trying to Out Run Hurricane Lee

We woke at 5:15 this am to make our 6:00 arrival time for the 8 am Ferry to Souris, PEI. It was a smooth crossing and after ~ 6.5 hours driving we made it back to Grand Falls camping at the Falls & Gorge campground. Small beautiful inner town campground right on the gorge where you’d never know you were in town. Clear night with many stars.Read more

Day 10
Grand Falls to Saguenay

We had a good drive to Rivière du Loup. A woman at the end of the ferry pier pointed out some belugas so we’ve finally seen some. Then we ferried to Saint Simeon and then drove to the ferry to Tadoussac. We saw some more belugas waiting for the ferry and while on the ferry. We toured a little bit of Tadoussac enough to know we want to spend some time there. Then headed for our campsite at Saguenay National Parc. We hiked out to the lookout and were able to see another beluga working it’s way down the fjord. Then hiked back with a beautiful sunset back drop. Having a restful evening before bed. 😌Read more
