Day 35: Alcaracejos - Hinojosa del Duque

    June 10, 2023 in Spain ⋅ ☁️ 25 °C

Day 35, from Alcaracejos to Hinojosa del Duque, 22.7km.
If not bucolic, at least rural, this stage was marked by storks, granite and holm oaks.
On the way out of Alcaracejos, two storks were hunting in a meadow, and it was milking time for many cows.
After 3km, we passed through Villanueva del Duque, which was still asleep this Saturday morning, except for the storks on the church and the town hall.
Pilgrims are very popular in Villanueva del Duque; there's a statue of a pilgrim in the square, and scallop shells punctuate the main street.
This is also granite country. No wonder there are so many mojones on this stage.
Fuente la Lancha will be the last town before reaching Hinojosa del Duque.
What a contrast with yesterday: the Río Guadamatilla is dry, and we cross it without a care in the world. Fortunately, because the traffic on the bridge is very fast.
Granite boulders, holm oaks and farmhouses follow before we reach Hinojosa del Duque.
