    2 Aralık 2021, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 22 °C

To do the Mae Hong Son Loop, we rented out some scooters. Within three days with two nights in Pai and Mae Hong Son we drove this iconic route trough green hills and fields. Pai is the most relaxing little village you can think of and Mae Hong Son has some very enjoyable hot springs.
We also stopped at the popular flower fields Thung Bua Tong.

  • Koh Samui

    16 Aralık 2021, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

For the first time during our travels we really realized what economical effects Covid can have. Samui is one of the most popular spots for tourists but right now it feels like a ghost island. The island offers an infrastructure made for thousands of visitors to make sure they have a great time and enjoy themselves. Wherever you are you can see offers for shooting ranches, snake farms, jet skis and many other activities, but almost everything is not operating at the moment. A huge number of restaurants, shops and bars are not just closed, they look scruffy and almost destroyed.

On the other side we were able to relax at the beautiful beaches without the regular crowds. Besides that we visited some temples, viewpoints and waterfalls.

  • Fullmoon Party & Christmas - Koh Phangan

    24 Aralık 2021, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

For the first nights we stayed at famous Haad Rin Beach, where the legendary Fullmoonparties take place. For the second time since Covid the Fullmoonparty was planned for December 19th. In normal times more than 30,000 people dancing and drinking at the beach. For the upcoming party about 3,000 were expected.
We already planned to go to the party with another German couple we met on Findpinguins. Majorlein and Rainer started their long term travels in Thailand and from the beginning we enjoyed hanging out with them. Even when the party was not as crowded as usually we had a lot of fun.
We were able to experience a few of the fullmoon traditions like body paintings or fire-rope jumping.

After our time in Haad Rin we moved to the jungle bungalows where Majorlein and Rainer were staying. We explored the island, ate good food and relaxed a lot.

Because of Christmas we had to manage our mixed feelings between thinking about our beloved ones back home and enjoying ourselves. To be honest it felt a bit strange to celebrate under palmtrees at the beach, while everyone in Germany is sitting under the Christmas tree.
And maybe there were a few little tears on our faces during the video calls with families and friends on Christmas Eve.

    1 Ocak 2022, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

For New Year’s Eve we wanted to treat ourselves with a six day liveaboard going to Similan and Surin Islands in the Andaman Sea. The cruise started from khao lak. We had an incredible time with beautiful dive sites and amazing people around us. How can you better start in a year while diving trough beautiful coral reefs and rock formation and enjoying empty beaches at the similans. Once again we recognized how privileged we are and how thankful we are about the time we have during our trip.Okumaya devam et

  • Maya Bay Phi Phi Islands

    7 Ocak 2022, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

During our last stop in Thailand on the famous Phi phi islands we were lucky to visit a place which was closed for almost four years now: Maya Bay. Well known because of the movie „the beach“ staring Leo DeCaprio, this place is a popular sight to see. This stunning beach is located in a hidden bay on a small island in front of Koh phi phi. We took a private longtail boat to get there early in the morning. We just had to share the magic of this place with less than ten other persons.Okumaya devam et

  • Koh Phi Phi

    8 Ocak 2022, Tayland ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

Is there a better place to end a eight week trip in Thailand? Especially if you haven’t to share it with the thousands of tourists which are normally around?
Besides our goodbye we also we’re celebrating Lauras birthday and enjoyed every second here. We’ve been at the iconic view point, weve been able to snorkel with a bunch of black tipped reef sharks and we drank a bottle of Champaign at Laura’s birthday on a longtail boat during sunset.
Thank you Thailand for this special time!

  • Phnom Penh

    12 Ocak 2022, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

    Welcome to Cambodia 🇰🇭
The first four nights we spent in the capital city, Phnom Penh. After the first chaotic moments during the immigration, we felt very comfortable here very fast. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. We walked around the city center close to the Mekong river, to see the kings palace and the national museum. One day we visited the killing fields and the Genocide Museum to learn more about the dark history of the brutal Khmer Rouge regime.Okumaya devam et

  • Angkor Wat

    14 Ocak 2022, Kamboçya ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

After Phnom Penh we went to Siem Reap, the Gate for the famous archeological park of Angkor. Besides the Temple of Angkor Wat, which is for sure the most popular one in whole Southeast Asia, you can visit more than 50 temples of different ages and styles. For that reason we bought a 3-Day Pass to have enough time to explore everything.
Especially during the magic light at sunset and sunrise we felt the magic and spirit of this special place.

  • Gardens by the Bay - Singapore

    7 Şubat 2022, Singapur ⋅ 🌧 27 °C

Singapore itself is for sure the most green city I visited so far. Every skyscraper has different balconies with huge gardens or facades covered with plants and flowers. But one place is for sure the green eye catcher: Gardens by the Bay. A huge area with beautiful flower fields and parks. Besides you can find the famous Supertrees and glasshouses with special exhibitions. A 100% must see ending with the light show after sunset.Okumaya devam et

We’ve been officially the first foreign tourist after more than two years and became quickly kind of famous in Moalboal. Wherever we came, the people always heard about us. • Siquijor Island

    17 Şubat 2022, Filipinler ⋅ 🌙 28 °C

Our next destination at the Philippines, was the little Island of Siquijor where we witnessed maybe the most colorful sunset we have ever seen.
We spent one day at the famous Cambugahay waterfalls, taking a refreshing bath and jumping into the turquoise water. One night we spent at a organic resort in the center of the island. The resort is planting their own rice and vegetables. It is a very remot place with neither connection or Wi-Fi.
Our little bungalow was completely open so we had a fantastic view of the rice fields and at night fireflies flew into our room.

  • Malapascua Island

    22 Şubat 2022, Filipinler ⋅ ☁️ 28 °C

Malapascua is a tiny island north of Cebu, but maybe the most famous place to spot thresher sharks in the deep blue. This rare species is sensitive in terms of light and noise and a diving trip starts at 5 am.
After a nice first dive with two of those magic creatures and a white tipped reef shark, the second dive this day was blowing us away. More than 15 thresher sharks and 3 mobula rays were around and very close at some point.
Besides the diving, Malapascua has beautiful beaches but we’re a bit unlucky with the weather. But it was definitely worth the visit!

  • Donsol, Diving at Manta Bowl

    25 Şubat 2022, Filipinler ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

Donsol is called the „Capital City of Whalesharks“ so obviously we had to go there. From Cebu City we took a flight to Manila and then to Legazpi. After a 70min Bus ride we arrived in our Bungalow at the beach. For the first day we booked a diving trip to the famous diving spot Manta Bowl where you can spot Mantas besides the whale sharks. The trip included three dives. The first one was at a nice coral reef to set all the gear. The second and the third were at Manta Bowl. The spot really deserves his name, shortly after descending we spot the first Manta. The giant Ray floated calmly at a cleaning station when I suddenly recognized a enormous shadow above us. An approximately 9m long whale shark appeared out of nowhere.
At the second dive we saw two more mantas. What a successful trip. On our way back we spotted also a young, 3m long whale shark at the surface.

  • Donsol, Snorkeling with Whale Sharks

    26 Şubat 2022, Filipinler ⋅ ⛅ 29 °C

After the diving trip we decided also to participate in one of the snorkel trips. Compared to other places at the Philippines where you’re able to have a close encounter with whale sharks, in Donsol they do not feed them or block their ways with nets. Before you get on one of the small boats you have to register and watch a introduction video about how to behave on the water next to the huge animals. One boat is allowed to carry a maximum of 4 persons and in total only 11 boats can go out on the bay at the same time. We’re lucky and saw 3 different whale sharks and spent some unforgettable moments with them in the water. They’re coming in the bay for eating tons of plankton. That is also the reason why they stay most of the time close to the surface.
    An absolut stunning experience.

  • El Nido, Palawan

    2 Mart 2022, Filipinler ⋅ ⛅ 27 °C

We spent a full week in El Nido, our final stop at the Philippines. You can find almost everything in this area: amazing beaches, good food, incredible landscapes and a lot of activities like a day tour with the boat to explore the little islands in front of the coast line. We loved everything about it. We really enjoyed ourselves here and relaxed a bit before our next big adventure.Okumaya devam et

  • Duli Beach, Palawan

    4 Mart 2022, Filipinler ⋅ ⛅ 28 °C

Our last stop at the Philippines was Palawan Island. El Nido in the North of Palawan is probably the most famous place in the entire country.
El Nido and it’s surrounding area is known for amazing beaches, small islands along the coastline and relaxing vibes.
One of the beaches we liked the most, was Duli Beach. Of course because of the soft sand, the coconut tree forest and the turquoise water but especially because of Duli Beach Resort. The little resort is owned by a young Dutch couple with their two little boys. They arrived 7 years ago in this paradise and started besides their resort a conservation project for sea turtles. After all this years they’re having now a huge network with other projects around the Philippines. They’re taking care about the nests at the beach to protect them from dogs and other predators. Whenever Baby sea turtles are hatching you can take part in the release of them. For a little donation you can also adopt one of the nests to support this inspiring project.

    12 Mart 2022, Avustralya ⋅ 🌙 17 °C

Finally we made it to Australia. For the most time of our trip we thought that this won’t happen due to the strict Covid restrictions Australia had. We’re super happy to explore now this amazing country which was one of our favorite destination during the planning of our journey.
For good reason Melbourne is a city with one of the highest rates in terms of life quality. It is a modern, multicultural and open-minded city with a lots of amazing parks (like the botanical gardens) and the ocean close by. What else can you ask for?
We were lucky to arrive in Melbourne during labourday weekend so we could visit the festival, the parade and amazing fireworks.

  • Philip Island - Penguin Island

    16 Mart 2022, Avustralya ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

Every evening at dusk, thousands of Penguins arriving at the beaches of Philip Island. They’re coming back from the open sea were they spent the whole day hunting fish. About 30.000 Penguins living between the dunes of this small island. It’s the smallest penguin species existing.

We’re sitting at the beach waiting for the penguins to come. Nothing. But suddenly you could see their little heads between the waves. In groups of around 30 individuals they’d start walking up the beach to climb the dunes, where their nests are located. A natural spectacle!

We also had our first encounter with wallabies, a small type of kangaroo when we drove around Philip Island.
