Another step in the formalities for our Permesso di Soggiorno application is completed!

This morning we went back to the Questura in Bologna to be fingerprinted.

We arrived early, so had a bit of a wait. Nonetheless, we were done and on our way back before our actual appointment times of 11:05a and 11:10a. Once our names were called by the fingerprinting tech, it took about 2 minutes each for the process to be completed.

The tech had no clue how long it might take for our cards to be ready. “Above my pay grade,” was essentially what he said. Someone else working at the Questura said the average is 8-9 months.

So, now we wait!

Two to TravelAnd we’re waiting! By the time we get our card, I’m afraid we are going to immediately have to turn around and apply for a renewal :-)

Two to TravelNo idea how long we’ll be in Bologna or Italy. The residency permit is for all of Italy and applying for it is a requirement of the elective residence visa which allowed us to enter the country. It is issued in one year increments the first two times (meaning that if we decide to stay on in Italy after the first year, we have to go through the renewal process). Subsequent applications slowly increase to two and then five year increments. If you move, you have to have a lease wherever you move to and you renew in that jurisdiction.
