Colfosco: Not Quite Ready, but …

We’re not quite ready to leave the wonderful cool and comfy temps we’ve been enjoying in the Dolomiti … nor the delightful mountain views.

We have no choice but to do so, however. We have a Permesso di Soggiorno appointment to keep in a few days and need to return to Bologna. The good news? The heat dome is finally breaking, so we’ll have just the usual summer temps to deal with rather than the sweltering temps that had us escaping to the mountains.

Anyway, we woke up to rain pitter-pattering on the roof … drenching at times; a drizzle at other times. I didn’t let it stop me from enjoying the balcony since there was no sun to make it uncomfortably hot this morning.

We could have gone out sightseeing when the rain stopped mid-morning, but we’ll be driving to Bolzano tomorrow, so we decided to just ‘chill’ at the apartment … literally and figuratively. We used the time to do one last load of laundry … the facilities are in the ski/bike room and free to use. We also packed our bags …nearly ready to be zipped up.

Chores done, we’re now sitting on the veranda … need to finish the open bottle of wine. A good time to reminisce about the memories we’ve added during our mountain getaway.Read more
