Leeds Castle

Tour start - Kelpies and the Highlands

Isle of Skye - We actually get there

After the Harry Potter train, we head off for a ferry to take us to the actual Isle of Skye.
We stop at a beach along the way to explore tidepools. They're not much compared to the Oregon coasts.
Isle of Skye - Hogwart’s

Off we go to see the famous Harry Potter train viaduct for the trip to Hogwart’s.

Drove to the fairy pools. A smallish stream coming down out of the mountains that has carved out lots of little pools, rapids and waterfalls. Bit of a hike to get to, so only Roger did it. Gail andLue lisää

Left the Isle for the drive back to Edinburgh. Stopped at the Eileen Donan castle. Interesting that it was only restored to it's present state about 100 years ago. Supposedly still used by the clan asLue lisää
Last Night in Scotland

Made it to Ljubljana ok, private transfer to our flat, which is lovely with just the quirk that you have to step down a large step onto a hallway (and then back up) to move from living area or bedroomLue lisää

Went up to the castle that stands over the old town. Took the funicular rather than a very steep and long hike. Castle is an interesting mix of the old with a lot of modern touches, e.g, restaurants,Lue lisää

Picked up our rental car, a nice brand new Audi, and off we go to Posojna cave and Predjana castle.
Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj

Off to the northwest of Ljubljana to Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj. About an hour's drive to Bled. Continue further to Bohinj where the road eventually dead ends at the far end of the lake. Drove throughLue lisää

We started out on our last day of the car rental to head off to Vintgar gorge and Vrsic pass. After a very challenging navigation, we found Vintgar only to learn that it was closed for maintenance.Lue lisää
