On our trip across to Tasmania we met a lovely lady who suggested the town of Beachport in South Australia as our base for the Christmas period. We could see why when we visited on our way through. What a lovely little town and so reminiscent of the Gold or Sunshine Coast towns of 30-40 years ago. It was such a pity that the wind was relentless and freezing cold so we couldn't enjoy the area a bit more. We moved on along the Limestone Coast to Robe for lunch. Another lovely seaside town with plenty to see and do before stopping in Kingston SE RV Park for 3 nights. The SE stands for South East as there are apparently several Kingstons in South Australia. This place is well set up for travelers with a very organised park near the beach and jetty. A short walk to town as well.
We were lucky enough to be here when they had their Christmas Parade and Fair on the Friday night. The fair was held in the Lions Park right next to our campsite with lots for the kids to do as well as live music. All finished off with fireworks directly behind our van.Read more

Heute Nacht stehen wir in Robe auf dem Campingplatz - und es regnet! Seit 30 Monaten warten die Landwirte auf Regen. Mensch Jungs, hättet ihr doch früher was gesagt, dann wären wir früher gekommen!

After breakfast, we first drove to Kingston SE to look at a silly giant lobster statue and then we turned inland hoping to check out vineyards in Padthaway, but, unfortunately, they were closed as it was Sunday.

We had a great time in Kingston SE. Did some fishing and squiding
Caught no fish but got a couple small squid. The RV stop Is across the road from the jetty. A long jetty with half of it being over land not water.
We met some lovely people. Had a great time squiding with Em.
Next was Tailem Bend to catch up with David and his partner Sharon (no photos). It was great to chat and go to the Beerenberg farm. We also caught up with Kim and Vonnie in Murray Bridge.

Along the street we also stopped in Kingston to stretch a little and admire the big lobster... Well it's just a big lobster, but it worth a shot!

Traveled a short distance today to Kingston SE. Its a small town that is not so touristy. It has a really good free overnight camp spot. We also happened to be here on a big night for the town, they had a jazz in the park night with the Navy band playing and tomorrow they have a big triathlon in town and by the sounds of it the bike leg will Go right next to my caravan.Read more

So here we are in Kingston SE, a small fishing town. Staying at an RV park right opposite the beach and only $10 for 2 nights. Beautiful sunsets from here. Did some beach driving and saw the 'Larry' The Big Lobster.Read more

We left Victor Harbour this morning aiming to catch the ferry at Wellington but I made the mistake of following the instruction from Apple maps which took us the long way around bypassing the ferry (not very happy about that mistake). So we are now back in Kingston SE the home of Larry the Giant Lobster we were here last year on our big lap but this time we are staying in the off grid camp which costs $10 for 2 nights whereas the caravan park we stayed in last year was $64 for 2 nights.Read more
