Ekka holiday for the Redlands today so both meaghan and Evie have the day off.
Went to breakfast (more like brunch) before coming home to do a dump run with all the cardboard from the garage. Some pictures of Evie in the car that meaghan tookRead more

    Mushrooms - the final countdown

    August 14, 2017 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

I've lost track of how long it's been, but it's safe to say we won't be eating mushrooms again for a while. This is what remains and I think we're going to put them out of their misery and add them to the compost heap! 🍄Read more

    Trains

    August 31, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

It was all about the trains today. I took my track building to a new level today and googled a couple of track maps to make it work well with the track direction changers (seriously think there's something wrong with me!). The girls loved it!Read more

    The weekend

    September 17, 2017 in Australia ⋅ 🌙 18 °C

We went to blackbutt on Friday night so we could finish the toilet. Daniel did a great job under very irritating circumstances. I think he had to take it out and put it back about 4 times! Shawn came to collect the rest of his things from the shed and Evie went and spent the night in Kingaroy.

We came home about lunch time and meaghan took Evie for an outing to Wynnum where they had play at the park, a bike ride and an ice cream! I stayed home and had a sleep. I'm in the middle of a very persistent cold that is giving me bad sinus and limited voice! Evie and meaghan also went to Kmart to stock up on new paint and new paint pots. Thanks meaghan!

    Betty's Birthday

    November 19, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

We went over to Betty and Al’s for Betty’s birthday. Calum and Caitlin had prepared a feast! Unfortunately it was delayed! Poor caitlin was carrying empty beer bottles to the bin and slipped (it’s been raining for more than 24 hours) and sliced her hand on broken glass. So it was off to emergency for some stitches. Poor caitlin! 😞 Calum took photos but I’ll spare you the gruesome details! When they returned, we had a delicious lunch and cake! Thanks for a great afternoon Smiths and happy birthday Betty!Read more

    Update

    July 10, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 14 °C

Fairly uneventful couple of days. Meaghan and I worked on cleaning out and making the chicken coop taller and easier to get in and out of. Evie spent a few hours with shawn on Sunday. Evie has had a cough and sore throats and has vomited a couple of times from coughing too much. She stayed home from daycare today and we will see how tomorrow goes. Also put the quilt cover you bought me on the bed. Told you I'd use it! Loving the photos!Read more

So Evie is in the shower with a brand new bottle of body wash. Meaghan goes in to check on her and realises...the body wash is empty!! She knew she was in big trouble because when meaghan said her name "Evie Alice!", she started crying! Like really crying! 😭
We had only talked about ha much soap to use a couple of days ago. Oh dear!

    Saturday

    September 9, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

Haven't posted for a while so though we'd put some photos up. Evie and I cleaned and washed the back deck this morning. It's been dry and windy so everything was covered in dust. This afternoon we're playing trouble. Working on the rules! Evie's a bit unsure about how it works! She's fine at working out the number on the dice and counting her pieces around the board but she thinks she needs to keep rolling until she gets a number she hasn't had before! There are only 6 Evie!!Read more

    Roslyn Brown

Maybe she needs 2 dice that way she has more options!

    9/9/17Reply
    Juliane Blackwell

Maybe we could do a chance and probability lesson on the odds of rolling a certain number. Too advanced?!

    9/9/17Reply
    Roslyn Brown

    Definitely not too advanced

    Lego

    August 10, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

The Lego/toy bag I ordered arrived yesterday so we transferred all the duplo into it. It's awesome! You spread it out like a mat and then you can rifle through and see all the pieces easily. Then to clean up, all of the loose blocks are on the mat and you pull the drawstring to turn it into a sack.

So we decided to build a farm this morning. I was going for the ad-lib farm building experience but Evie was very specific "you have to follow the distructions (instructions)".

Also, the cow eats bread and there's a polar bear living on the roof of the barn. Of course.

Clever idea! Standing on those little leggo bits you missed is never good. Keep to the distructions Jules 😊

    First big kids swimming lesson

    July 12, 2017 in Australia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Evie had her first swimming lesson in the big kids group today and with a new teacher. She was very worried when I told her Miss Gen wouldn't be her teacher anymore. Then she asked who it would be and I told her his name is Damien. Well, the thought of a new teacher, a new group AND a male was all too much! With a lot of persuading we did get there and luckily her old teacher didn't have a group so she took her in and stayed with her for a bit. There were some tears but by the end of the lesson she was fine! 😀Read more
