Emily Embo🇬🇧 Milford Sound On Tuesday, I went to Milford Sound. Now that I have Bongo back (that's another story), I can hit the road again. I intentionally booked Tuesday because it has been raining a lot in the past few days, and hopefully, the waterfalls are more spectacular. I also had a lot of respect for driving these roads alone again, but I managed it well! I always plan a lot of time for driving, so it happened that I stopped on the way to Milford Sound and looked at a waterfall that is very hyped. I was somewhat disappointed; you couldn't see much, and there were too many people there. I liked the walk through the rainforest to the waterfall better than the waterfall itself. I had mentally prepared myself to be disappointed by Milford Sound, especially since I've already seen Doubtful Sound and large crowds of tourists annoy me. But Milford Sound wasn't that bad; in terms of nature, it was like Doubtful Sound, and the rain made the waterfalls look even better (and chased away people from the top of the boat). However, you can already tell that it's a mass production; everyone is frantic, tour buses rushing, and almost no one is enjoying the moment; everyone has their camera on everything happening. I can partly understand it, but I'm glad I did Doubtful Sound; it was quieter, more relaxed, much fewer people, and you could just sit, look out, and enjoy the pleasant atmosphere. Nevertheless, I'm glad I did Milford; after all, I can't live in Te Anau for months and not have been there even once. Oh, and I saw these animals that day! In the parking lot: a Kea (mountain parrot) and a Weka (flightless bird). Milford Sound Tour: Fiordland Crested Penguin and New Zealand fur seals.
