First day in Paris

We arrived around noon after an overnight flight and almost zero sleep but we were determined to keep going. Checked into our small hotel (lovely staff and clean albeit small rooms) and then headed out to explore the city. Wandered the streets, saw some gorgeous old buildings and salivating worthy bakeries before we stopped for a pot of mussels and coffee. There's a store near our hotel that is a stand alone foie gras shop! Wandered lots more and then the final stop was at Hugo's (under the apartment of Victor Hugo) for some amazing ice cream. An early night and readying ourselves for a big day tomorrow.Baca selengkapnya

Liebe Leute,
gestern ging es endlich los für mich - meine kleine Reisezeit. Um diese für euch und natürlich auch als Erinnerung für mich festzuhalten, starte ich nun diesen kleinen ,,travel-blog". ;) Ein paar Monate (natürlich mit Auszeit, weil Heimweh) werde ich mal hier und mal dort sein und hoffentlich wunderbare Ecken Europas sowie auch neue Arbeitswelten (die Arbeitshose für den Stall liegt schon bereit hehe) entdecken. Aber nun heißt es erstmal Urli. :)
Gestern sind Rowena und ich nach 12h Zugfahrt in Paris angekommen. Nach einer erholsamen Nacht und ein paar Croissants/ pain au chocolate intus, sind wir wohlgesonnen in den Tag gestartet. Paar Tourispots abgeklappert, Vino geschlürft, die französisch skills geprüft (habe noch ordentlich Lernbedarf!) und die Mentalität hier aufgesaugt - reicht für den ersten Tag 🤭 Lasst auch mal von euch hören! Yesterday we spent most of the day at the Louve. I'm not the biggest museum fan, so I wasn't sure how I'd do....

I'm happy to say it was a very cool experience. We were able to see several of the famous works of art in person (along with thousands of other people). The Louve is housed in a building that at one time was a palace. The place is huge. There are 4 wings, and each wing has 3 floors.

We saw art and artifacts from 800 BC through the 1800s. The Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo were the most popular works. We saw some Rembrandts and other paintings from the 1600. 1700 and 1800 hundreds. One room had gigantic paintings that were pretty cool.
We walked about 10 miles yesterday overall. Had dinner at a place that claimed to be one of the oldest bistro's in Paris, established in 1845. The food was great.Baca selengkapnya

Same procedere as last year. Nur effizienter.

Erst um 11.42 haben sich Arne und ich mit belegten Brötchen bewaffnet gen Metz aufgemacht und statt gelbem Blitz die silberne Rakete genutzt. Dank fremdländischer Geschwindigkeitsbegrenzung konnten wir den Durst auf 4,6 l/100km begrenzen.

12.47 Uhr Ankunft, dann ein 29minütiger walk zum Bahnhof, das erste Croissant vertilgt und dann ab zum Gleis 9. Nix zu meckern.

Nix zu meckern? Umgekehrte Wagenreihung. Auf französisch: Courlevant mixoise. Da war Hampelmann das erste und aber auch zum letzten Mal in seinem Element.

Tolle Plätze im Zug, die Klospülung funktionierte, der Zug war pünktlich und der Weg zur schönen Wohnung angenehm.

Nach einem etwas anstrengenden Ersteinkauf liefen wir dann auf altbekannten, aber schönen Pfaden über den Parc des Buttes Chaumont nach Stalingrad, dann am Quai de Seine entlang.

Beim Kebabmann holten wir uns dann unser Abendessen, das wir auf dem schönen Balkon vertilgten.

Bei der anschließenden Tagesplanung für Dienstag merkten wir, dass wir für die Katakomben zu spät dran waren: Alle Tickets bis Sonntag ausgebucht!

So kommt ein Alternativplan ohne Gebeine zur Anwendung!Baca selengkapnya

We're in Paris...on the backside of our vacation now. Experienced the traffic on the way from the airport but finally got to the hotel. We dropped our bags and headed out to see what was in our neighborhood and get some lunch.

After lunch, we relaxed for a bit, then went to the catacombs. It's a little freaky to be that close to a million peoples bones. It was a great little tour to start our days in Paris.

Over the last two days, we've been on the go seeing the sights of Paris. Yesterday, we rode the hop on hop off bus to get a view of the whole city. Once we made a full round on the bus, we hopped off at the Arc d Triumph. Walked on the Champs d and then walked over to the Eiffle Tower. After dinner, we walked toward the Louve to view the Eiffel Tower
Then we walked to the Louve's pyramid to see it at night. A great night in Paris.Baca selengkapnya

Heute war ein Tag voller Eindrücke und laufen!
Massi ist ein super Tourguide - es ist echt toll, wenn man mit jemandem unterwegs ist, der sich gut auskennt.
Paris ist echt riesig! Wäre ich alleine unterwegs gewesen, wäre ich ziemlich sicher etwas überfordert gewesen.

Wir sind heute alles zu Fuss abgelaufen und haben die wichtigsten Punkte gesehen - beim Eiffelturm waren wir jedoch nicht. Ich war ja schon mal dort, und das Wetter war heute tagsüber echt mies. Ich glaube da oben hätten wir ausser Wolken nichts gesehen!

Die Stadt selber ist zwar echt interessant und spannend, meine Lieblingsstadt ist es aber nicht (das darf ich sehr wahrscheinlich keinem Franzosen sagen🤐😅).
Ich weiss auch nicht so ganz genau, wieso das die Stadt der Liebe sein soll🤔 das muss ich noch mal googeln...
In gewissen Gegenden möchte man echt nicht rumlaufen, und auch die Metro-Fahrten scheinen nicht ganz ohne zu sein. Da scheint die Liebe doch sehr weit entfernt zu sein!

Uns ist heute jedenfalls zum Glück nichts abhanden gekommen und so gehts nun zufrieden, aber k.o., ins Bett😃Baca selengkapnya

Nach einer halbwegs erholsamen Nacht haben wir uns in die Pariser Innenstadt vorgewagt 🇫🇷 Gemeinsam mit 70.000 anderen Touristen erkundeten wir den Louvre, Notre-Dame, Eiffelturm und Mandelcroissants (und eine paar kleine Gassen😉). Today started with Notre Dame and the Latin Quarter, where I had a delicious Nutella and strawberry crepe.

The Pantheon was next, including its crypt and a cool scientific experiment showing the rotation of the Earth. (The pendulum in the video).

Managed to get into the Louvre after queueing for about half an hour. Spent a few hours there and saw many cool exhibits, the Mona Lisa among them.

The others were knackered and headed back to the hotel while I visited sacre coeur for a gorgeous sunset.

Off to Bordeaux tomorrow on the second floor of a double-decker high speed train. Weather looking promising.Baca selengkapnya
