    Israel Day 8, Part 1

    September 23, 2024 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

Started out the day with beautiful views around the Dead Sea from my balcony. Then went to Masada a city in a hill. To be honest there was soooo much information at this point it was overload. I guess there is a very long four part movie about Masada so I may have to watch it but I did hear it was quite boring. In any event, gorgeous views, super high up. We had to take scary flying trams to get there. In my video, for perspective, you see birds looking super tiny because we are so far above them. At the top there was a fully dressed Jewish Priest in a room set up to look like back in the times and he was writing Hebrew words for people. In Hebrew books are backwards compared to how we read they read right to left and their books turn pages right to left. The card with the hearts says Jason (right), Jill (left). ❤️❤️Read more

    Plötzlich mittendrin im Nahost Konflikt

    October 7, 2023 in Israel ⋅ ☁️ 26 °C

Read more

    😱 we’ve missed this

    September 14, 2023 in Israel ⋅ 🌙 77 °F

Today was full full day of catching up with amazing friends. We left the place we’re staying at (the missionary couples home) to go to see some of our friends in Bethel. The one couple we had plans to have lunch with them and catch up. She works in Hebrew sign language translation and the husband works in video for WHQ and is the overseer of translation. It was a nice time catching up for hours!
Ice cream after finished it off nicely!

Then we went across the hallway to another couples apt. She works in tech support in IT and the husband is on the branch committee over service dept. We had some beer and popcorn and chatted about them just graduating from Gilead and how it’s helped them in their assignment. After a couple hours here we were told that they organized a beach evening for us. So 50% of the bethel family (family of only 52-55 people) came to the beach to spend time together and to say hi after 4 years! It definitely made us miss service at the branch.

Volleyball was fun with 25ish people. A few strangers wanted to join as we were laughing so loud and the volleyball looked like a great time. It’s a public beach so there is lots of people walking by and many enjoying the beautiful sunset. Just imagine the promenade in Miami and that amount of people…. We definitely stood out.

After volleyball we went back to bethel Apts and had another meal and a couple more joined the party.

We didn’t feel like driving back to Haifa from Tel Aviv (1.5 hours) so the English Circuit overseer (when we were here they were the Hebrew Circuit overseer) offered to put us up for the night. We spent some time with them catching up although we have never really been that close in the past. But, they have a cute cute bunny (yes, the COs here can have animals!).

Now it’s sleep time. For another day tomorrow spending time with our friends in the center of Israel rather then up north where we used to live. Chat soon

PS. We’re not posting names and photos of these couples as there could be some complications. But just know. Everyone of these dear brothers and sisters are amazing individuals!

  • Day 2

    Tel Aviv

    August 17, 2023 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 31 °C

    Drained in Tel Aviv

    October 3, 2019 in Israel ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Tel Aviv portrays a mixture of L.A. and Middle East and thus it's absolutely contrary to the cultural-religious Jerusalem. Since my hostel is located close to the beach, the rooftop terrace allows me an excellent view of the daily life at the boardwalk. Instead of dangling sidelocks people are wearing muscle shirts and patrol along the promenade with their fashion dogs. Even though Tel Aviv is called Hollywood's new sin city, has numerous of scene clubs and is promoted as party capital, just having a drink can already become quite expensive. Nevertheless, six to seven euros for a small beer is no usury due to a 25% taxation of alcohol. Although, I therefore spent most of my time on the dry dock, I reluctantly leave the fine sand beach and the summer-like weather and fly back to Vienna.Read more

  • Day 31

    Tel Aviv

    September 27, 2024 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

    Israel Day 7, Part 3

    September 22, 2024 in Israel ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

Leaving the Jordan River we went on to the Dead Sea. The views were incredible. I have soooo many pictures that I just picked a few. I was shocked how warm the water was. Very much like a warm bath. I rubbed the salt crystals all over my feet and legs and enjoyed my own lil spa treatment. It’s crazy how much my legs were sticking up out of the water! Don’t mind my back view, just wanted to show the sea. 😜Read more
