Pear orchard layby west of AmmerseeSeptember 26, 2016 in Germany ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C
We spotted this layby as we were driving along and couldn't resist. It was sandwiched between a field of sweetcorn and a section of grass with a small pear orchard. (Unfortunately the fruit was so hard that even when a couple of riders came and picked some for their horses it went to waste!).
We spent the afternoon outside in the orchard enjoying in the warm sun. Earlier we'd spotted a great garden centre where we'd stocked up for our new shelves. Will adapted the herb tray so it would fit and potted up the herbs. Whilst we've managed to keep basil plants, we have really missed the space to grow our own herbs for cooking. Hopefully this solution will be a lasting one.
Whilst Vicky was outside doing Pilates, Will tuned into a German radio station that was live streaming from a TTIP demonstration with details of when and where future events were. We couldn't imagine the BBC doing that!
After seeing 6 Red Kites circling over the sweetcorn we went for a sunset stroll. We were lucky enogh to see 2 kestrals, one of which dived and caught its supper in a meadow and 2 buzzards on the grass about 50m away. We felt so lucky being able to make use of the last of the day's light this way.Read more
