Munich bike ride to see Nymphenberg palace, and Residenzmuseum. Rented bikes at Radius, rode to Nymphenberg, then to Residenz, then to eat at Little Asia on Nympenberger St ...delicious Thai food, reasonably priced too! returned bikes and walked back to hotel
More detail...
We are staying at the Bavarian boutique hotel. The breakfast is really phenomenal. Kept us going most of the day. Radius bikes opened at 9:00 so we got there shortly after. It is at the central train station. Train station also a good place to exchange dollars for euros.. go to the north side of the trains and go down the stairs near Starbucks to exchange $. It took 30 minutes to ride the bikes from the train station to Nymphenberg. Front desk person at our hotel recommendation and she was not wrong. We fell in love with the carriage house Marstallmuseum and spent a fair bit of time in there. I loved all of the sleighs! Even if that's the only thing you see there, it is worth it. It then took us 30 minutes then to ride our bikes to Residenz museum. Before going in we noticed a church across the street, Saint Kajetan and went in and walked around quietly . Really unbelievable. I have never seen so much intricate plaster work. The church is enormous and so beautiful. It is very hard to find the main entrance to Residenzemuseum. At main entrance you will find the Treasury. Don't miss this. The jewels and diamonds in the crowns and the decoration for the horses are unbelievable.
Also, the theater is a must see but it is hard to find. You leave the main entrance walk back out to the street. Go north to the Lions and then take a right and walk to a big courtyard and look left and above a door it says theater but it is not super obvious. Make your way to the theater that will also blow your mind. We did not make it into all of the buildings and we may go back tomorrow. We were starving and biked to Asian restaurant
After eating we returned the bikes around 5:00 but we could have kept them until 8:00 p.m. The guy that rented us the bikes is an exact doppelganger for our nephew Timmy.
We enjoyed seeing the trains and all of the people coming and going in the station. We want back towards our hotel and stopped in a couple of stores and came upon another beautiful cathedral St. Paul.
We ate Pizza, salad and a yummy chocolate cream puff dessert at Taormina a 2 min walk from our hotel. Excellent. Service was great too.Read more
