Famous and important temple from the 17th century that is also somewhat of a Balinese icon. It is situated on a rock in the lake. Legend has it that a snake protects the site. This site also had a Buddhist monastery adjacent, not a common occurrence in Bali.
The 1st 2 pictures look at the main temple. 3&4 are of a post-cremation ritual. We just happened to be there at the right time. 5th is the original island with statues of the snake and other local fauna. The last picture is of a portion of the gardens on site.Read more
