      Zenko-Ji Tempelanlage Nagano

      Die riesige Tempelanlage ist sehr sehenswert. Ihre Ursprünge gehen auf das Jahr 670 zurück. Neben dem Haupttor und der Haupthalle gibt es hier viele Nebenanlagen und etliche große Buddha-Figuren zu sehen.Baca lagi

      Nagano dans le brouillard

      J'ai été malheureusement un peu malade à Nagano, brouillant mon esprit. La chaleur accablante ne m'a pas non plus aidé. Nous sommes allés voir le Zenkoji, un temple bouddhiste, avec son tunnel vers le paradis plongés dans le noir. De Nagano nous sommes ensuite parti à Matsumoto, où l'air plus frais m'a fait grandement du bien !Baca lagi

      Echte Thermalquelle (Onsen)

      Wir machten einen Abstecher in die noch verschneiten Berge zu einer Outdoor-Thermalquelle, die in zwei kleinen Becken aufgefangen wird. Die Luft war aufgrund der noch winterlichen Temperaturen recht kühl aber das Wasser war wundervoll warm! Allerdings stanken wir danach nach Schwefel und Eisen … 🥴 tja, aber dafür war das eine echt Quelle mit echten Schwebstoffen im Wasser und nicht ein Gemisch, wie wir es sonst in den öffentlichen Thermalbädern erfahren.
      Der Weg über den vereisten Schnee war nicht ganz ohne aber ich finde, der Ausflug hat sich sehr gelohnt!

      Um den Gestank wieder loszuwerden und weil wir beide eh Bock hatten auf ein Hotel-Bett, fuhren wir danach weiter nach Nagano und checkten in der City ein.      Baca lagi

      Day 2 - Narita to Nagano

      After a good nights sleep in Narita, we boarded the shuttle back to the airport. Exchanged our JR east passes, grabbed a 7-11 breakfast and caught the 9:18am NEX to Tokyo. Then onto the shinkansen bound for Nagano, arriving at 12:07pm.

      We went on a search for Baskin-Robins as birthday treat for our new 10yr old. Then went off to find our hotel - the Nagano Mash Cafe & Bed. The quad bunk room was ¥12,400 for the night. Check in was at 4pm, so we dropped our backpacks and wandered up to Zenkoji Temple.

      At the temple we paid the ¥500 for the main hall admission. One of the guides gave us a personal explanation and walked us through the main hall, explaining each step. Then he directed us to basement - where you walk through total darkness to find the key to enlightenment. We hit a human traffic jam, but found our way.

      It is freezing in Nagano, so after 4pm we checked in and then set out to Maisen for a Tonkatsu dinner. Then turned in for an early night.      Baca lagi

      M-Wave

      1998 fanden hier in Nagano die olympischen Winterspiele statt. Viel habe ich davon noch nicht gesehen und lasse mich mit dem Taxi zum M-Wave chauffieren. Dieses liegt etwas ausserhalb und ist jenes Stadion, in welchem die Eröffnungs- und die Schlusszeremonie stattgefunden haben. Zudem beherbergt es ein Museum, welchem mein heutiger Besuch gilt.
      Nach dem Bezahlen des Taxis braust dieses auch schon wieder davon und ich begebe mich zum Museum. Ich bin etwas erstaunt, dass sich die Türen nicht automatisch öffnen und betrete die Räumlichkeiten via daneben befindlicher Glastüre. Seltsam, normalerweise hat es beim Eingang von Museen Personal, welches einem begrüsst und allenfalls Geld für den Besuch will. Ich weiss, dass der Zugang hier kostenlos ist und begebe mich in die Ausstellung. Dann sind eilige Schritte zu vernehmen und eine aufgeregt wirkende Frau macht mich darauf aufmerksam, dass das Museum heute geschlossen sei - warum auch immer...
      Flugs befinde ich mich wieder draussen. Draussen vom Museum und draussen von der Stadt. Zwar befindet sich eine Bushaltestelle direkt vor dem Stadion. Dieser lässt aber auf sich warten. Zu Fuss schaffe ich die halbe Strecke und fahre dann den Rest noch bis zum Bahnhof.      Baca lagi

      Reise nach Nagano

      Wir waren heute in Nagano und haben einen Buddhistischen Tempel besucht von Zenkō-ji. Danach waren wir in einem Sportpark.
      Zum Abschluss waren wir im Round One... Eine Spielhalle mit Karaoke, Soccer Center Acarde Automaten, und vieles mehr.....

      Traumhafte Tour nach Nagano

      Heute Morgen beginnt der sonnige Tag schon super mit Frühstücksbuffet mit fabelhafter Aussicht auf das nördliche Alpenpanorama Japans, was soll ich sagen, schaut selbst....und ebenso die Strecke nach Nagano, ein Traum!

      Nun wissen wir auch wie Wasabi wächst und aussieht, denn wir haben unterwegs eine entsprechende Farm besucht.

      Es ging auch bergauf, aber meistens stetig bergab, daher waren wir schon um 14:20 Uhr beim Fahrradladen in Nagano (nach 75 km). Super, dass das nette Hotelpersonal gestern mit denen schon telefoniert hat und Makino, so heißt einer der zwei netten Mechaniker, gleich wusste, dass wir das sind. 40 Minuten später funktionierte meine Bremse wieder, was für eine Erleichterung! Die Probefahrt müsste ich schon selber machen, deutet er mir grinsend an, weil er auf das riesige Rad niemals draufpassen würde. Alles bestens und auf Jens bekommt sein Rad wieder fitgemacht (Schaltung richten, Radständer gerade biegen und abgebrochene Lampe ankleben.

      So, nun kann es weitergehen. Kurz vor Toreschluss erreichen wir nach heutigen mehr als 80 km die riesige Tempelanlage Zenko-Ji (siehe separaten Footprint).

      Gerade trinken wir zum Ausruhen eine Café bzw. Chai Latte. Später werden wir uns hier in der Großstadt einen Schlafplatz für unser Zelt suchen, wir haben da auch schon so eine Idee!      Baca lagi

      Shintu Schrein No 4 & Sakura wonderland

      Auf einem Hügel südlich von Nagano versteckt zwischen knorrigen Kiefern und wunderschön blühenden Kirschbäumen steht ein recht großer Schrein … diese Kirschblüten sind einfach eine Augenweide und ich werde den Anblick nicht müde!Baca lagi

      Bears

      One of the things i was most anxious to see in the Nagano area was Togakushi. A shrine in a forested mountainous area just about an hour away from Nagano. Marina helped me out with all the bus schedules and gave me some great tips on where to get some delicious cold soba noodles. The busstop from Nagano station was a bit tricky to find but i got there on time to buy a busticket and be on my way. There are a total of 5 shrines to be visited and i had planned for at least 3. The first two are just a straight 30 minute walk away from the entrance of the park and consisted mainly of a beautiful walk on a path through gigantic, hundreds of years old trees. The sunny weather made it even better. I got some nice seals for my goshuincho and walked back to the big entrance gate where the paths split up to some nice single tracks through the woods. An absolutely wonderful walk, that is until i saw the big sign with kanji and hiragana printed big and red and a picture of a bear. Now i would not say that i was nervous or scared but i walked the trail roughly twice as fast as indicated on the map. After a while i calmed down a bit and actually enjoyed the wonderful sight of some small lakes and shrines right in the middle of the woods. I ended up at the last shrine and after seeing what i believed was a wedding, i headed to the restaurant that Marina recommended to me. Now cold soba is a specialty of that area but this one had also a dipping soup/broth/sauce that was made of ground up walnut. You just pick up the soba and dip it into the walnut mix. It's so incredibly tasty. The people at the table behind me must have heard me grunt of joy while is was eating. I got back just in time for the bus to Nagano and after a day of walking i just fell asleep in the bus. (just like most locals. When in Rome... ;-)) Before heading back to the guest house i made a quick stop at Zenko-ji temple. I had been here befor at my first stay in Suzaka but had not been able to get a seal for my book. After that it was off to the guest house where some new people from Germany and Canada had arrived and another great evening with talks and beers followed. This is getting repetitive. ;-)Baca lagi

      Tanjoubi

      Today no trips or trainrides. Today is the day i celebrate my birthday! I told Marina a while ago and she suggested to have a big party with barbecue, music and drinks. I didn't have to think long about an answer. :-) I decided to stay in the hostel and when the first guests from Tokio came I helped them build up the tent and bbq. The sunny weather and the good mood made for a good atmosphere. The food was delicious but I expected that there were going to be things I had never tried before. I was not disappointed. Some of the more exotic ones were fried grasshopper in soy sauce and a salad with jellyfish. You might not expect it but both tasted pretty damn good! Meanwhile Ryo, one of the guests from Tokio had been drinking in a pace that even i couldn't keep up with. Eventually the alcohol caught up with him and he decided to lay in the garden and eat some flowers. After about 30 minutes he was back to his old self and joined us in the party. After the barbeque the party went on inside and even more guests and local people joined the party. I got a cake and so many nice presents. Ryo had heard of my small backpack and so he bought a bucketload of potatochips in real small packages that would never fit. I also got a japanese version of a knapsack with beautiful decorations. It was so great, i got lost for words and that doesn't happen a lot. The party went on long with lots of beer, sake and a lot of laughs. Thank you Marinasan for such a wonderful party! I will remember this for a long time!Baca lagi
