Withsunday Islands Sailing

All of us were pretty excited to go on the boad!
Finally, we got on the Catamaran (Wings Emperor II) and with us a watercanister(8l) full of goon!
After a couple hours sailing, we reached the "Blue Pearl Bay" where we went for our first schnorkel! Very shallow water made it a bit hard to move between the corals. But many many fish around. I even could spot a Clowfish (not quite "Nemo" but close enough!). Towards sunset we got back at the boad and tyred the best thing on the upgrade- the Jacuzzi! The water was just warm.
But imagine this: you go snorkeling and with time the water goes freezing, then you go out totally frozen and find a warm Jacuzzi. Not enough? You sit in the warm water and watch the sun moving into redish colour and going down on the horizon!
The next moning we went to the famous "Whitehaven Beach".
Over lunchtime we sailed then out to the "Great Barrier Reef"(Bait Reef) and eventually got there at around three a clock. I couldn't wait to go schnorkeling again!
The Reef is different you need to look around a lot to find things to see. And there are not as many fish. But when you find something it is awesome! This evening it were a big and a smal turtle. When I was chasing the little one, a "Withetip Reef Shark" aktually passed by underneath me!
I got out of the Water with the red sunset. Everybody seemed to be already ages back on the boad! But lucky me it was still space in the Jacuzzi! Frozen in the Jacuzzi, we didn't want to go out, but on the other hand there were dinner soon! Then the Moon came! Right as we turnt around ready to go out, there were the red coloured moon coming up!
We got up early the last moning. While we had a little breakfast we moved the boad a little bit to the "Stepping Stones" where we went for another snorkel. Fairly rough conditions and a strong current, made this a interesting undertaking! But I saw some cool stuff a blue seastar(actually my first seastar). And as everybody were already back, Lukas and me went for one last go! So the raft-taxi took us out again! Even though the currents picked up. This time I could spot a "Clowfish and behind him were another family the corals.

Unsere Truppe war schon ganz aufgeregt, dass es jetzt dann endlich losgeht zum Segeln! Mit uns kam ein Wasserkanister (8 l) voll mit goon (günstiger Wein im Sack), an Bord des Catamarans "Wings Emperor II".
Los ging es mit ein paar Stunden Segeln bis wir an unseren ersten Schnorchel Platz (Blue Pearl Bay) waren. Dort waren sehr viele Fische anzutreffen. Ich konnte sogar einen Clownfish sehen, wenn auch nicht ganz "Nemo". Zum Sonnenuntergang ging es wieder an Bord. Dann wurde gleich mal dass beste des Updates ausprobiert- der Jacuzzi!
Stell dir vor: Man kommt aus dem nach einiger Zeit saukaltem Wasser, ist total durchgefroren, und findest einen Jacuzzi mit warmen Wasser! Mit dem noch nicht genug, weil man versuchst sich wieder aufzuwärmen segelt man entlang der sich rötlich färbenden Sonne in den Sonnenuntergang.
Am Morgen ging es zum berühmten "Withehaven Beach". Über die Mittagszeit sind wir danach zum "Great Barrier Reef" (Bait Reef) gesegelt. Um dort am Abend nochmal zu schnorcheln.
Schnorcheln am Reef ist etwas anders als erwartet, man muss mehr nach was gutem zum sehen suchen, aber wenn man was findet ist es super. Am dem Abend waren es zwei Schildkröten, eine richtig große und eine kleine. Wie ich der kleinen so folge, schwimmt unter mir ein Reef Hai durch. Außerdem natürlich viele Korallen.
Mit dem Sunset bin ich aus dem Wasser, die anderen schienen bereits Stunden zurück zu sein. Aber glücklicherweise war noch Platz im Jacuzzi! Als wir versuchen aufzuwärmen, ging der rote Mond auf!
Am letzten Tag ging es, während dem Frühstück, zu den nahen "Stepping Stones". Wo wir wir abermals schnorchelten, diesmal waren die Konditionen wilder. Eine Starke Strömung und Wellen machten es zu einem interessantem Unterfangen. Ich konnte einen blauen Seestern finden. Nachdem schon jeder zurück auf dem Boot war, sind Lukas und ich nochmal mit dem Schlauchboottaxi raus für einen letzten Schnorchelgang. Wo ich einen weiteren Clownfish finden konnte, auf der anderen Seite der Koralle war sogar nochmal eine ganze Familie!Read more
