Emily Embo 🇬🇧Brewster Hut After recovering from the last hike, I finally drive up the West Coast. Daring to hike again, I embark on the Brewster Hut trail on a wonderful, sunny day. The hike is only 2.5 kilometers (one way) but has a 1000-meter ascent, so I purchased hiking poles beforehand. First, I have to cross a river – quite exciting! Then, it's a steep climb through the forest. The hike is so beautiful, especially after the last one; it's simply amazing. Sure, the steep climb is tiring, but the views are stunning. These are the moments when I realize I'm in New Zealand, and I'm still fascinated by the mountain landscapes. Slowly, I start thinking I might prefer mountains over the sea... I'll soon realize I'm mistaken, but let's get back to the hike for now. I walked a bit further to capture a great picture of the Brewster Hut, then started descending. The descent was more challenging than the ascent because my knee was giving me trouble. I noticed it at the end of the last hike, and now it's worse. Fortunately, my hiking poles help me navigate the steep descent slowly and cautiously. Finally, I'm back where I started the hike, and now it's just a matter of crossing the river.
