    Jericho is west of Jerusalem near the start of Dead Sea. The town in below sea level. It is in a quite barren looking area but still produces good quantity of crops.
    There is a Tel (ruin) of the old city that Joshua was commanded to destroy when they first entered the Promised Land.

    Genom den bergiga öknen till Jericho, världens äldsta stad, befolkad sedan iaf 10000 år tillbaka. Stannade på Tel al-Sultan där utgrävningar visat 34 lager av civilisationer. Man kunde inte se mycket mer än stenhögar i djupa gropar, men ändå intressant.
    Man kunde också se berget (och numera klostret) där Jesus utsattes för frestelsen efter hans 40 dagar i öknen.
    Jericho, liksom Ramallah och Bethlehem, ligger inom den s.k. Area A, helt kontrollerat av Palestina och förbjudet för israeliska medborgare att besöka.
