      Encarnacion - day 1

      January 28, 2023 in Paraguay ⋅ 🌙 23 °C

After breakfast we needed to cross the border to Paraguay. Next to Foz do Iguaçu there is a city called Ciudad del Este in Paraguay known as Shopping paradise. People usually cross the border for a day trip and go shopping. If you want to continue traveling around Paraguay it is necessary to do the immigration procedure on both borders. There is an intercity bus which stops on both borders so we took the bus for 24 reais both of us and drove to Brazilian side. The immigration didn’t took long and we decided instead of waiting for next bus to cross the friendship bridge by feet and make the immigration in Paraguay. All went smoothly and in 10 minutes the bus arrived which took us to the bus terminal. Not long time after our arrival the bus to Encarnación was leaving. We book premium seats, bought some drinks and departed on our next journey to the most beautiful city in Paraguay. The drive was quite long and bus was stopped all the time 😅 even people selling drinks and food got sometimes in and tried to sell you everything 😁. Finally we arrived in our beautiful hotel and went to relax to our rooftop pool before heading to town. We originally decided to go to Encarnación / Paraguay for one reason to see the carnival. Unfortunately either I read wrong information in internet or the dates have changed but the carnival is starting instead of 28.1. on 4.2. 😢. As our hotel is walking distance from the Sambodromo we wanted to check it anyway. Luckily today they are making final trial of the carnival and just for 10.000 guaranies (1.2€) you can come and watch it 😁🇵🇾 so the plan for evening was settled. We walked around Costañera (coastal pedestrian road) till the San Jose Beach (actually Paraguay has no sea but the river Parana is at this point so big that you get this sea feeling anyway) we got nice dinner at the beach and watch sunset. You can see on the other side of the river Argentinian city Posadas. Around 8:30 we arrived back to Sambodromo to watch the carnival. I got super tasty cocktail just for 1.2€ 🤣 (all the cocktails were between 1.2 - 2€) and then we had to wait for more then hour for the carnival to start. Quite a lot of people came and the atmosphere was amazing. I can only imagine how great it will be next week when the place is full and all the people are dressed up 🤩🇵🇾 it was definitely night to be remembered ❤️Read more

      Reisetag & Paraguay

      January 4, 2023 in Paraguay ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

      Casa Alta Hostel

      June 7, 2017 in Paraguay ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C
